Can we get an Unflag option on the forums?

Time and time again, I see legitimate posts, ones that aren’t trolling, and actually make a fruitful discussion or argument… somehow gets flagged, not sure if it’s due to trolling or just simply ignorant people or both (like this post here will probably be)… Whatever the reason, some get flagged (even ones with many likes❤️), end up being hidden, and eventually removed by mods (or automation) who probably don’t check if it was a legitimate post or not, just simple see that it was flagged by multiple users, so assume it must be a bad post and remove it.

So for these, I think there should be an unflag option that appears when a topic gets flagged and content hidden, so that way the majority of forum users can essentially vote to undo the flagging of trolls and ignorant individuals.

I don’t want roaming groups of trolls backing each other to undo the rightful flags of their threads. No.

Well, actually, the mods do look at the posts before they remove them. And flagging without a legitimate reason is actionable. However, some posts do get auto-hidden until a mod has a chance to look at them. And I’m not entirely sure how many real mods look into these things (as opposed to the AI).

If you think a post has been unfairly flagged, you can make your own post saying so, and explaining what you think is good about the post.

The other thread you were complaining about this… The OP (of that thread) was sock puppeting himself. Most of his upvotes were his own characters.

The mods will unflag threads (the LGBT celebration thread was unflagged repeatedly the other day) if they believe the thread to be fine.

It should also be pointed out that the OP’s idea is essentially the old upvote-downvote thing that used to go on in the old forums. Blizzard did away with those options but they had to leave the ability to flag a post (for obvious reasons).

this would be countered by the plethora of the majority of non-trolls, who vastly out number the forum trolls, who’d continue to flag the troll posts and bury it into oblivion.

You’re very… optimistic… about the forum community.

It really wouldn’t. Remember we’re all different, with different opinions and views.

Think about it like this.
Poster: “lol ur a moron go kys”
(Bunch of people flag the post and it goes hidden)
(Bunch of unempathetic people who think “lol what snowflakes get thicker skin MUH FREEDOM OF SPEEEEEECH” unflag that post)

That’s how it would actually go. Just let Blizzard have the final say if a post goes flagged.

No. If the flags are unjustified the post will be unflagged by a moderator, and yes it does happen I’ve seen it happen before.

Heck it’s happened to my own posts before. People tried to flag me for disagreeing with the masses, the mod saw it was unwarrented and removed the flags.

No. That isn’t for you to decide.

And classic discussion belongs in classic section of the forum in case that was what you were concerned with - most of those are trolls threads anyway.

You claim mods will remove a post just because it has multiple flags, but in the first part of your post that I quoted, you assume a post isn’t trolling or inappropriate because it has lots of likes.

Do you not see how contradictory those two statements are?

What is the most recent thread you have seen where the OP is hidden? Because based on what I saw after the lock debacle I think they have a temp system right now where the OP doesnt get hidden, but without being able to check I am not sure.

Oh and just a general note: off topic threads dont belong on GD or in any section other than the off topic section or lounge.

Flagged for logic. It has no place on these forums.

I don’t assume that it’s not trolling/inappropriate just because it has alot of likes, rather, I actually read what the topic may be, and it’s clear that some aren’t trolling or seeming have anything wrong, inappropriate or what have you, but yet some are being actively flagged/hidden.

I even stated this in my original post which you’ve chosen to overlook:
“I see legitimate posts, ones that aren’t trolling, and actually make a fruitful discussion or argument”

As opposed to, what exactly? Trolls roaming around flagging things willy nilly with little if any consequences whatsoever?

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen a post (any post) getting reported into oblivion when there were no offense against the community guidelines to be seen, what do you call that?

It seems pretty childish to report people you disagree with on the basis that you disagree with them. But we see it happening so frequently that something is broken.

I’d support this unflag feature but we are clearly not responsible enough to self moderate. Sad, really.

In those cases Blizzard will unflag the post.

If a flag isn’t legitimate, it expires in about 24 hours. They only remain permanently if Blizzard’s moderators take action on them.

I would still like to see some examples from the last 48 hours.
