The Trading Post now has an “Add to Cart” option for each item. Assuming there is no technical limitation by which the TP can accomodate it but the AH cannot, it would be a convenient and useful addition to the AH.
What should happen if the item in your cart is sold and is no longer available for that price?
An auction is sort of a “buy it now” experience, isn’t it?
By the time you add to cart and go to check out, the price could change or item bought out.
Trading Post it makes sense.
As far as auctions, I really don’t want to see “has this item in cart” and play the old wait and wait to see if someone made up their mind about purchasing auction house items.
And as another has said and I will repeat as well, if that item in your cart is a certain price, there is no guarantee that it will still be at that price.
AH does not need this as an option.

It could adjust the price to the lowest available for whatever you have in the cart if you checkout and the item is no longer there/price has changed. There’s already a mechanism in the AH that does this.

A solution to that could be that the cart is only valid for say, 120 seconds, or maybe only for as long you have the AH window open. Latter might be annoying if you accidentally close it.
AH is badly in need of system integration.
I still want to be able to stand at the crafting order NPC, buy the mats there and directly apply them to the order without the mandatory forgetting to pull them out of the mailbox step. Missing one of the mats? Put a price list right there on the order screen. Want to add an embellish/missive? Same thing, and show only the ones that can be applied.
Then sell it for that price and mail the seller whatever gold amount they listed for. It’s all pixels, who cares if the amounts don’t match?
Edit: naw that could be gamed by having a buddy list items for 1s the moment you do a search. Still, could have a checkout button that calculates the price right before you submit.
Eh I do. I like to know that the price I’m seeing at the point of selection is the price I will be paying on checkout. We do not need a shopping cart for the AH and that isn’t how “auctions” work at all.
It’s called the auction house and not Walmart for a reason.
It buys an item for the same price listing, it does not buy higher without verifying to the player. Imagine going to spend 100g on a mat just buy a 68k one because somebody cleared the reasonable prices.
