Lots of games have different characters.
I usually have 3-5 d3 characters a season and they post with btags.
To clarify for doobly.
Their claim is that someone who wants to harass someone else, will put the person they want to harass on ignore.
This will magically let them find out all that person’s alts in order to harass them in tons of ways, some of which are not actually possible to do with the info that theoretically could be gained.
This process requires that the person being harassed posts regularly on ALL of their alts on the forums, and that the harass has the capability to efficiently search ALL of the forum to find hidden messages that can lead to the character names. Also requires that they’d see there is a hidden message.
but none of those D3 characters are ever made part of your forum posting account. so its not a good comparison.
my alts on wow are private and they need to be kept that way
Account wide ignores are not an invasion of privacy.

Something no-one here seems to get: none of your characters actually belong to you. Legally, they all belong to blizzard.
