To use a recent example, If Ard has chosen to ignore the vile poster from the other day, do you imagine he he wants to be repeatedly confronted by them when they show up on alts to perpetuate that abuse?
Or do you think Ard should have the option to click ignore on one character and be able to ignore the entire account without having to face it again and again?
If you’re the sort that chooses not to ignore other posters, good for you. Nobody is trying to force you to ignore others. But for those who do feel the need, they want the ability to ignore the player, not the character. It isn’t the character being vile, but the player.
Repeating for emphasis:
It isn’t the character being vile, but the player.
We want to ignore the person behind the avatar.
This is true. Also, it will reduce toxic and trolling posting. People hide behind alts to say nasty things. Not being able to hide will cut back on this.
For once, and actually once, Ard is actually correct in this thread on a certain problem within the forums: The Moderation, and just noticing this now.
There seems to be “double standards” at who the Code of Conduct does apply to within members here on the forums. Now, this one user, in another thread, that existed a few hours ago, was making homophobic post, was trolling the forums, even went as far as making a real life threat towards another member. Then also created a thread in relation to… well, something in which should never happen in any video game. And all they got was thread/post removed. They are still posting.
Like, seriously, the moderation are absolutely playing double standards with this. Here I have been dealt with for lesser things, and dealt with pretty harshly, and you got this one person breaching the CoC without even hiding it, and is getting away with it all. Now, the Code of Conduct is supposed to apply to everyone, but after this morning, this is not the case.
I guess even asking for account wide ignores is pointless when there’ll probably be double standards in that, since the Forum Moderation just proved that all this morning.
And no, I am not listing names on who the person is, because knowing my luck, I’ll probably be targetted with this post alone without even mentioning a name.
Adding on to this: someone got away Scott free with posting fake screenshots claiming to show someone else saying some really problematic things, yet pointing out how dumb an idea is with satire can earn you a vacation.
Double standards or not, would it not at least be helpful if, since silences and the like are account wide, if we could have the same set up on the more personal level? Where the double standards would likley be on us and us alone?
What I meant by that quoted part is that, Blizzard would say they’ve made things account wide for the forums, but actually didn’t, just to allow the trolling and sockpuppeting behaviour to still get away with it while we’re just stuck with ignoring the character-server.
I know, that was my point, in essence all we are asking for is the same ability Blizzard has, to keep people from posting account wide, brought down to the personal level where they can still post but we won’t/can’t see them no matter which toon they are on.
Like, what good is reporting people, using up my flags (which that being capped is dumb) that are actively making threats against users for them to not ban them?
Like anyone threatening users that should be a pretty open shut case but no… that person is still posting. I’m not saying their name but if ya know ya know.
