They can pretend to hide, but they get caught out straight away.
Nobody is saying you can’t share your opinions. But when your opinions are spreading misinformation about functionality of certain things, then it isn’t an opinion, it is spreading misinformation.
I mean, lets put it this way, if you don’t believe us, go and ask BlizzardCS, how severe the consequences can get if caught with harassment.
They say there are less of us for account wide ignores etcetera but to be honest there are more of us individualy in these threads then there are those against because half or more of the anti toons are just alts of the same few people against it and then there are the few who don’t know how btags or something works.
That last group often switches to the pro side once they learn more.
It is just the same 5 people who are against any improvements to the forums. In the end, we know that Blizzard wants to improve the forums, for us, it is just a patient wait, and see what the future brings.
you saying that i am spreading misinformation is actually you spreading misinformation and i find it to be quite insulting.
it is an undisputed fact that this is possible with account wide ignore:
so maybe you should keep your insults to yourself instead of bullying people away from sharing their opinions.
no they expect ppl to act like adults on a video game forum…
I’m just waiting to see what the next ridiculous excuse will be, the ignore RP one was something to behold.
Insult verb
speak to or treat with disrespect or scornful abuse
Nothing about my post was insulting. If you find things insulting here on the forums, then you shouldn’t be on the internet.
And yes, you are spreading misinformation.
misinformation noun
false or inaccurate information, especially that which is deliberately intended to deceive.
Expecially when you can not find anyones alts if you place them on ignore, even with an account wide ignore.
yes you can find everyone’s alts with account wide ignore…
what do you not understand about this?
“ignoring people should be against the CoC as it ignores peoples opinions”
No you can’t. An account wide ignore doesn’t share everyone’s alts. It means it puts the person on ignore. Which is where I was coming from with the OP, it would have to require some sort of forum account identifier, which in this case, something that already exist, BTags.
I am amused as well by “Well, ignore will instantly show all the alts because obviously everyone uses all their alts to post constantly on the forums with, and the ignore will work in such a way that it shows the names of all the ignored alts and say, doesn’t just completely remove them from appearing in threads, AND that it isn’t like finding a needle in a needle stack that’s constantly having more needles dumped into it”
yes you can.
don’t you understand how account wide ignore works?
here i’ll explain it for you step by step.
- Person A puts person B on ignore.
- Person A is now ignoring every character on person B’s account.
- All messages from any characters of Person B will show up as “hidden” messages to Person A (since person B’s entire account of characters is ignored by person A).
- Person A just needs to sift through the forums to find every hidden message and any hidden message will be characters on the account of Person B.
- Person A now knows all the alts of person B
No you can’t. Once again, just continuing spreading more misinformation.
And people can already find people’s alts, with the help of Blizzard’s API and/or the Armory. You characters are not private, you know.
please explain to me how this isn’t correct?
is that not how account wide ignore would function?
if you ignore one character from an account, you ignore ALL characters from that account???
There are addons for that.
No, it isn’t. Because people tend to have multiple people on ignore. What are you saying? 5 actual different people are all the same person behind the one screen?
well are you saying that it is not possible for person A to remove every other character they have on ignore before ignoring person B?
this way, the only ignored characters will be those on Person B’s account.
It’s the same group that are for them as well. If you really think about it, we know the # of users that logically use the forums, much less post on them, is small compared to the playerbase of WoW. Those that sockpuppet is an even smaller %. I don’t blame Bliz for not hurrying to make adjustments or hire a bunch of mods. I’d love for more mods (can we have suspected sockpuppet as an option as well?), but if it were my company I probably wouldn’t bother either. The sheer amount of resources to control this much trolling must be massive!
It has nothing to do with greed. The amount of trolling on the forums isn’t even on a president’s radar.
As far as two way blocking, I don’t see it happening. It’s one thing to control what I see on the forums. Bliz has given us that power (as much as we can with alt posters anyways). I would love for account wide ignores to be a thing. It’s quite another to control what someone else can see on Blizzard’s forums.
PS: I’m a laid back person, good at compartmentalizing. I can read all the trolling and garbage and not be manipulated enough by the bad actors to try to tell them how to think. But danged if I actually had to start ignoring people. It’s actually refreshing to see all of the “View 1 hidden reply”! One thumb up (the 2nd thumb comes with account wide ignores)
You obviously don’t know how ignores work. But considering that you’ve continued to bypass people’s ignores, Tae, this comes as no surprise for someone who doesn’t want the forums to improve.
