hello friends, i don’t see any problems with the current system whatsoever, i believe that it works perfectly.
here, i politely informed each party that i was going to place them on ignore, so i put them on ignore.
then they logged onto new characters to directly reply to me by quoting me so i placed the new characters on ignore and reported them.
it works perfectly and doesn’t need any changes.

people have the option of hiding their alts from those websites via “display only character achievements to others” as well as disabling third party websites from gathering the data in their bnet account settings.
you can only find people’s alts on those websites if people consent to it.
again, same with battle pets, people can just choose to not equip any battle pets, therefore you can only find someone’s alts on the forum through matching battle pets if they consent to it.
obviously blizzard knows that some people don’t want their alts linked to their main which is why blizzard gave us those two options.
however, an account-wide ignore feature would allow everyone to find everyone’s alts without their consent. it is for this reason that i cannot support account-wide ignore, especially and most importantly also because the current ignore system works perfectly without invading everyone’s privacy on the forums.

In all seriousness though, I feel like his arguments against it are based on hypotheticals and theories and not in reality.
Like if someone really wants to find your alts, there are other means that can do it far efficiently then constant scrolling and searching every nook and cranny in this site to find your ignored individual’s alt(s).
When I ignore people, I simply have zero care about them and their alts, thats all there is to it.
The only people who would do this, are the ones who sock puppet and troll.
And we all know who that is right here and now, aye?

This isn’t true as it happens. You can always see the pet journal and the only way around that is to do what you’re doing, use a burner account.
As it happens though I support a way to hide this pet journal as a feature.
Honestly, forcing burner accounts isn’t a bad idea to forum troll, as that makes it $15 more expensive than the current free.
Why isn’t this a thing?! What is this? We definitely should have account wide ignore, both on the forums and in-game.
Slightly off topic but we should have an option specifically for PvP to not ignore/block a person but say we don’t want to be pitted against them in a pvp match.
Its rough sometimes going up against twink groups when you’re just leveling and I really don’t want to like… block them for just playing the game the way they want. lol
We do have Account wide ignores in game, it just needs to extend to the forums

Someone coming into a thread pretending to be a new participant who was “convinced” by the argument is bog-standard, textbook sockpuppeting, and it’s one of the few things that the Blues have said is absolutely an actionable example of the kind of sockpuppeting that people aren’t allowed to do. It’s literally one of the biggest reasons that people are asking for account-wide ignores.
It’s like saying “I don’t know why you keep bringing up the subject of heavy rains, we’re debating flood prevention.”
It’s also notable that despite being so vehemently against anyone finding their alts that they’re inventing wild conspiracy theories about how people will show unprecedented coordination and malice to band together to create blacklists that will do…things? To them? Somehow? That neither Ard nor Taienna has taken the very simple steps to secure their armory data and prevent it from being used by third-party sites.
Not that I’m aware of? We saw someone with the no xp buff… are they able to do that and group with someone whose not still maybe?
