I’m sitting on drake and whelp crests with nothing to spend them on. I know I can vendor them but it feels like such a waste, especially when everything gives whelp or drake fragments. Plus I have to sit there and click this giant stack of fragments before I can sell it.

That would negate this ridiculous time gate system they’ve created.
They won’t do it at least until next mini-patch cycle. If ever.

Throw them in the bank and save them, as well as any other lower gear that’d use them, for when catalyst comes out. Or at least for when we have a lot of charges. Super low pieces should easily offer LFR mogs (which are hard to obtain with geared toons) and they’ll use those crests to upgrade into the Normal appearance.
Though a vendor of sorts, even if not one that trades up, would be cool. Offer like, mid level mats or the barter things. Idk.
It may be a bit time gatey but this upgrade system is so much better than S1. You dont even need rating to upgrade this time around. I just think we need a way to upgrade the crests because of how much of them drop and how little gear seems to be going around.

Id be more than willing to trade up for say… 15 welps for a drake, 15 drakes for a wyrm, 15 wyrms for an aspect or something like this.
Same garbage with primal infusion… i finished S1 with 11 of them (thats 110 converted) and still have like 90 unconverted that i didnt vendor yet Cause i didnt need a 405 when i had 418 everything or better.

Lets not get carried away here. 10 would be a better number for upgrading.
Not if they balance out the numbers right. It can’t be a 1 to 1 trade but if it was a 10-1 or 15-1 trade it can control the influx of higher level badges in the majority of the playerbase. Sure there might be a few outliers of people who just steamroll through to completing their upgrades early but most of the population won’t.
The upgrade break-points moved from M+ Score (ratings at 600, 1000, 1400, 1700, 2000, and 2400) to the types of crests you get (Whelp, Drake, Wyrm, Aspect). If you were able to upgrade crests from lower-difficulty content, that would circumvent the new rating equivalent. Imagine if there was an NPC vendor in S1 that you could turn in some currency and upgrade an item from 395 (600 rating) all the way to 415 (2400 rating), without actually earning that 2400 rating?
That’s what you’re asking for… a way to circumvent earning higher crests (Wyrm & Aspect) without doing the higher-difficulty content to earn them. Clearly, that’s not going to happen anytime soon (maybe by the .4 patch when the next expansion’s been announced).

They let you trade down at a disadvantage, you honestly think they’ll let you trade up anytime soon?
If you want the higher crests, run harder content.
And don’t expect this to bypass the cap on crests.

I’m just saying there should be something all these crests could be used for and not just collecting dust.
They should let us trade up, even at a ratio of 3 to 1.
Maybe use 3 enchanted crests to trade up gear paths.
