Can we get a response on re-rendering issue in WoW?

This is still happening with 11.2. I even tried the older Feb 13, '25 Nvidia drivers.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. This is horrible. The only time I have noticed it, and its so bad I cant help but notice it, is when Transmog gear. It can take upwards of 30 seconds, or more. Game locks up for about 15 seconds first, then some textures of gear show up, but most are blacked out, and can not be seen. The name tags when pointing at each square, where the picture for that piece of gear, or SET is, shows the name. Clicking it, without getting images in there does swap gear transmogs.

you will want to use DDU to remove the current driver and install the older one

I am here to say I get the same issue, if I alt tab. When I tab back there is like a 20% chance I have to wait for a re-render while my client is frozen.

This has been driving me crazy. It began with 11.1.7. Nothing about my computer changed, it started the moment that patch released. Surely it’s something Blizz did.

I hoped 11.2 would fix it, as people on the forums showed it’s not just me, but sadly that’s not the case.

The madness continues. I wish there’d be some official statement on this. Something is wrong somewhere and that it’s happening to this many people means it must probably be on WoW’s end.

It really seems to be a big conflict between dx12 and fairly recent drivers. In that sense the only “fix” for some people it to only use dx11. Nvidia overlays/graphic filters also seem to bug out so it is a bit hard to tell if this is strictly an issue with botched drivers or if it is something to do with recent patches. Either way using dx11 and turning off UI add-ons as well as nvidia graphic filters fixed the problem for now.

Just dropping in to say it’s happening on my end too.
4080s on 576.52 driver, 9800x3d.

This has been going on for me for ages - definitely at least the last 6-9 months since release of TWW, it’s also slightly changed over the course of that time.

It always happens when Alt+Tabbing, usually if I’m taking too long in the browser. When it started occuring the game would freeze up and after 20-30 seconds would unfreeze & slightly mess up the resolution.

In the last few patches, the same would happen but usually unfreeze after a few seconds but most of the textures would be green until a /reload.

Now it unfreezes and the textures all just reload.

I used to think it was always WoW however I sometimes even know it has crashed whilst Alt+Tabbing because the graphics get messed up on my browser window (like half the screen seems to freeze). So I’m leaning towards Nvidia driver issues (it causes a driver crash each time too).

4080s on the latest driver, 7800X3D.

It’s unlikely it’s related to Nvidia drivers as I and others are experiencing the exact same symptoms on AMD cards. Also unlikely to be CPU related as both Intel and AMD users are seeing it. Symptoms started right after 11.1.7.

DDUed drivers and installed latest, same issues. Rolled back drivers to stable before 11.1.7, same issues. Marginally more stable playing windowed instead of full screen windowed.

Zero issues in other games. Not sure what other conclusions can be drawn here.

Still crashing on transmog and appearances windows constantly in 11.2 this is MONTHS of the same issue FIX IT ALREADY blizzard far out.

i5 @ 4.4GHz
16GB RAM
1660 Super
512GB Samsung SSD

Doesn’t matter what Nvidia driver I use, gone as far back as november 2024 and up to latest release and everything in between.

Repairing game files does nothing.
Addons or no addons same issue.

Started with 11.1.7

MANY threads in bug report forums with THOUSANDS of views and HUNDREDS of posts each.

Pretty widespread problem.

Radio silence from blizzard.

Forced to unsubscribe and link these threads as the final desperate message to send to blizzard to make them listen.

Just to throw in that im also having the same exact thing happen, using Nvidia drivers from back in February isnt helping, hardware is more than fine for WoW (5800x3D, RTX 3070ti)

Brand new PC with the same issue and the same setup mentioned above : NVIDIA 5080 and AMD 9800x3d. Was lagging out bad and it was especially striking during PVP combat which was annoying. Dropping DirectX12 down to DirectX11 resolved the issue.

Bumping for visibility this issue is being reported more and more. Thousands of people had this issue for all of 11.1.7 and now new people are getting the same issue in 11.2

Posted elsewhere not realizing it’s such a huge problem. I’m also experiencing this issue, but seemingly at random, or often when in Dragonflight on my mount. WoW worked perfectly before, and I’m on a 2022 ASUS ROG laptop so it should be able to (and has) run/ran WoW on maximum settings smoothly. The only way I can stop this issue atm is to lower my overall in-game graphics setting to level 2! From levels 3-10 still cause the freeze-crash-rerender thing. Definitely lead to some deaths, and makes group play outright embarrassing.

Playable (barely) with much less frequent, but still significant issues:

Turned Base Game Quality to 2 (from 7!), no v-sync, no anti-aliasing, DX11, all Compatibility Settings unchecked. Windowed.

Looks like garbage, but I can sort of play. Video driver crashes seem to trigger when moving to a different area and assets have to load.

It is absolutely pathetic that this many people have reported issues and there has been ZERO acknowledgement from Blizzard. It cannot be a user hardware issue for this many people, when hardware hasn’t changed in almost all cases.

Well said. I didn’t change hardware. This issue been happening to me since 11.1.7 went live. Still happens in 11.2

Still crashing after maintenance

Sounds like you might be running on your integrated GPU?

It’s not affecting as many people as you may think, as tech support is a place where people solely post about issues. I realize people dislike when I point this out, but true, widespread issues result in a stream of new threads (a new one every few minutes) that don’t stop until the issue goes away. Plus, Blizzard ended their courtesy tech support over a year ago, turning this into a peer-to-peer troubleshooting forum. Their practices are more in line with other AAA gaming studios now.

As this machine does not have an integrated GPU, that’d be a no.

Courtesy tech support. That may have been the case, but if we don’t even have that anymore, why bother with a tech support forum where all the MVPs seem to do is insinuate that every issue is user instigated?

I’d rather have nothing, and have no hope that the issue can be resolved, so I can just quit, instead of being gaslit into thinking it’s somehow my fault.

As for how widespread the issue is, are you saying that because only a relatively small number of players are experiencing an issue, they don’t deserve a resolution?

a) issue began at same or similar time after a game patch
b) issue exhibits same symptoms for x number of users
c) suggested troubleshooting methods only partially work or do not work at all

This is all coincidence and could not possibly be a game issue? Because that’s the message we’re receiving here.

I think it’s better to have people who care enough to ask questions and possibly help you find the cause than to assume they have ill intent. However, I’m not looking for a recreational argument.

Nope, you’re just framing my words that way. Generally, when an issue affects a smaller group of people, it’s because of hardware, settings, or third-party apps they have in common. That doesn’t make them less deserving of a solution, but the fastest route to one will be through individual troubleshooting, not demanding action from Blizzard.
