Can we get a heads up on SoD BC?

Has there been any announcement on whether SoD will carry into BC or not? If it will, then I would like to play SoD now and catch up.

I have some interest in Kara crypts and the potential SM raid but I would love to see BC done in SoD style.

I assume this is the answer. Never progress out of Classic. Which is cool I’m sure they’ll do neat stuff with it. I’m just a BC loser and it was my favorite expansion

cata and everything beyond is retail. my classic characters need to stay classic.

The anniversary servers are going into BC at the end of the year, you may want to join there

TBC SoD is confirmed. Look at the loading screen artwork for the new scarlet raid they are doing. Nothing else is on fire besides the flag. Now ask yourself this question:

Why in this image where nothing else is on fire, is the flag of the scarlet crusade the only thing that is burning?

Don’t give me hope

I was just thinking about the same thing and saw your post. Even though I’m aware that they released the anniversary server and confirmed it will progress to TBC, one of my favorite expansions, the expansion itself still has it’s own problems that a SoD version could fix. Pros: it helped make improvements to the meme specs. Con: meme specs still not as good as SoD fixed with the rune system/new tier sets giving much more options. Like back in TBC, I hear spriests are mana batteries, that was all I heard about them lol, while in SoD, yeah they give mana/health to a group, but they also do great damage.

I didn’t do any raids in TBC past kara as it was hard to raid back then with my schedule, but I did hear TBC also had a long attunement process, so a SoD verison could fix that also where how they made us only have to do the Onyxia attunement once and buy bind on account necks for our alts. Would be cool if in SoD you could have the same thing where long attunements are unlocked for alts.

It’s also nice when both factions have paladin/shamans so I don’t have to hear the constant comparisons about factions (then it can just change to class discussions only ha)

Would be funny seeing shaman tanks being a thing and alliance getting to find out how fun they are in a TBC SoD verison and horde getting to try out paladins with rune system as well, in a new expansion world setting (so tired of the same raids/5mans in classic at this point).

Personally I think TBC had the best raid design. We had a 10 man, then not one but TWO 25 mans that were relatively close in difficulty to get you ready for Black Temple, that way it created an almost open ended approach to the endgame that was really refreshing at the time.

I also spent so many hours in SSK though so it’s probably just nostalgia. But you’re right the attunement process was probably more involved than I’d have time for 10+ years later.

cata plays nothing like retail LOL

the term retail literally became a thing in cata

I would love for them to release a new expansion. It doesn’t have to be TBC as it may not make sense lore-wise (depending on how they may shift things with the new content coming out).

I think a new expansion would be really good as some things that are shoe-horned into classic systems (like mage healing and lock tanking) could use their own dedicated systems. For example, mage healing is off of arcane, but the arcane tree is terrible/wasn’t designed for mage heals, so it generally doesn’t provide too much compared to the trees for the other specs. SPECIALLY after level 40/50.

Another thing is that it would be nice to not rely on runes themselves. If gear breaks you (can be) screwed. Also, you may not take certain runes that were designed for your spec because others are considered better. Mage healing example again, you take the spell power rune over chronostatic preservation, or burnout/enlightenment over regen. It would be nice to not have to choose. If these were spells/talent that you got, certain class designs would be stronger and better fleshed out.

All in all, I am quite enjoying SoD. It had some rough patches because of course this is experimental stuff. But, that’s what made it exciting. Love playing class specs that cannot be found in any other version of WoW and would love to see how they continue these design ideas.

For the PvP guys, whatever they add, I hope they don’t add flying.

TBC is great, but flying destroyed the open world.

Also, hope we get a non-teleporting dungeon finder. No Bonus XP or rewards, just automate the grouping. Spamming LFG and the Group Finder is lame.

“SoD TBC” isn’t happening. It’d be an absolute clusterf*** of balance issues, not to mention tons of rune abilities/passives are TBC abilities/talents.

it’s funny because all of the anti-flying arguments also apply to flight paths but you never see anyone crying to remove flight paths

No flying and flight paths are not even close to the same things…
flight paths do not allow you move on a Z axis… if you want to get anywhere after landing to your strict route you have to run there. Running in the world not only makes the world feel bigger but allows you to see other player. If people move on Z axis it’s a lot less likely you will see the players.
And in regards to his point, it kill World PvP because any sign of threat or danger and you can fly, it’s really really bad for the game imo.

I 100% agree with you, I would love to do tbc with new content and runes, but if they decided to do that route they def should consider no flying mounts and just have flight paths to the specific spots that require flying.
The vanilla talent trees are just TERRIBLE, tbc talent trees aren’t that much better but still better than vanilla.
In any case I just hope they don’t let sod die and that’s that and over with gg, it would be sad and a massive wasted potential.

For the guy that said it would require too much balancing as well:
No. a few rune adjustments and/or spell adjustments and things would be fine. The game needs tuning and class balancing anyways to keep it feeling fresh. Half the reason SoD starts to stagnate for me is the lack of class balancing changes (where’s the arms war buffs hello?)
Also I really want horde and alliance to give their respective shamans and paladins to each other now. That helps massively with balancing.

LFG is annoying right now but I think summon stones would help tremendously.
Automatic group finders could be okay as long as you don’t get teleported to inside the dungeon and still need two people to run to the summon stone

Agreed. I liked flying initially but it quickly ruined the danger of the world. Now it’s just a monstrosity and I really hope they never add it to any form of classic besides the anniversary realms where it originally was.
