If I understand this right, Remix won’t be totally walled off like Punderstorm. Remix characters will join our normal Retail roster after Remix ends. So, a lot of people will be making at least one new character. This seems like a great time to free up some names from dead accounts.
“Start with a fresh new character and play at an accelerated pace”
Translation: Ooh lookit here! New shiny thing! All you players who stopped playing because Retail is in a stagnant phase, bring your money and come back and try the new shiny thing!
Nothing. This is an optional game mode for people who wanna try something different rather than doing the same thing we’ve been doing over and over again for 20 years.

Folks have been complaining for years about the monotony of leveling. Personally, I love Chromie Time, but it can get very repetitive nonetheless. This is a new way to level and experience the journey to 70 and I’m all for it.
Blizzard is clearly throwing all kinds of noodles at the wall to see what sticks. You can’t fault them for that. A for-profit company is going to continue to try to lure folks back in. SoD, hardcore, era, retail, Plunderstorm, and now this. Let’s just let it ride, man. Let’s see what happens.
That’s not how the naming policy works any longer.
All character names in a Battle.net account automatically become available after the Battle.net account has been inactive for two consecutive expansions. Customer Support does not manually release character names, even if the account isn’t currently active.
