Can we fix patron orders? no reason an available patron order should cost me 20k

There is almost never public orders, okay whatever we cannot control that. Doing tailoring and trying to earn the extra skill talent points. One of my available order for 2 days is the bag that would cost me over 20k in materials alone to get back 60. How come orders like this don’t provide any mats.

Some of the blacksmithing ones cost 65k+, and I’ve seen other professions that are even higher. It’s wild how much they’ve gated knowledge and acuity behind gold.

why do you even want to do those orders? Just to level up?

I need talent points to get more of the recipes unlocked.

You don’t need to make every patron order. I ignore anything that is unreasonably expensive.

most of those expensive ones just give the rune not kp

The orders, rewards, and material costs (from you) are generally randomized. Some orders will suck because of an extreme cost, while others will be literally free because the NPC will provide all the mats. Just RNG really.

It’s one of the only sources of acuity and knowledge. You don’t get much otherwise, and a full set of profession gear costs 900 acuity (1,000 for enchanting or tailoring, one of the two).

the expensive orders generally don’t give either in my experience

Yea i kind.of agree lol. When 1 work order asks me to buy a mat thats 5000g each with 5 in the craft thats way overboard.

thats makes them even more useless.

This you have to make new recipes to get the knowledge, and the ones that have the bonus item with knowledge. I get it is rng but it is ridiculous.

I dont mind if the Patron orders require a bit of personal input but for the Love of Gnomehood, could it at least be the cheaper reagents? How difficult is it to think of the player and the hoops they already have to go through to level their crafting?

This is my point. I do not mind throwing some money away at it. since I cannot get really any public orders, but the costs are ridiculous. Some of the cheaper ones include mats, but then the expensive ones never seem to.

I honestly wish they would prioritize those super expenaive mats for npc to supply.

Like bro this guy is giving me 1 of the normal bars but wants me to suppy 5 of the epic 5600g bars? For 10 aquity or 2 knowledge?

That better come with a got dang reach around.

Aren’t patron orders technically in addition to what’s essentially the same profession system from DF? Or in other words, couldn’t you just ignore them completely and essentially progress through professions the same way we did at level 70? I guess minus the degenerate ‘endless’ digging through dirt piles for dragon shards…

Yep, exactly. I had hoped that with TWW they would have learned lessons from DF but it seems they only managed to go so far.

You and me both, attractive though tall Elf. :sunglasses:

Though, of course, they would end up being uber gold expensive then. They’d get us either way and say, well, buy them off the AH!

They eliminated several things and replaced them with patron orders.

They screwed up by not gating the types of orders we are receiving from the patrons. Nothing at this point should be requiring you to purchase patterns or high-value mats.

Well a lot of recipes are locked behind knowledge at least on tailoring. So you need the bonus knowledge to unlock them. and that stupid bop mat what ever it is called is pretty annoying to come by when you need it

I enjoy that there are cost-benefit choices to be made but I wouldn’t mind a larger selection of orders to work with, even if they are trivial filler orders. I like making stuff and patron orders are a fun (for me) interface to interact with.
