Someone said totem stomp macros are working and had some quote from a Blizz dev that said that kind of game play isn’t what they want and so it was prevented in later iterations of the game.
Anyway lets prevent those macros in TBC. Thankssss Blizz.

Bump. Kill the macro so shamans aren’t even worse than they already are in pvp.
I will 100% use it if they don’t kill it. It’s my way to pay those shamans back for the one shot macros in classic.
Last time I checked those do not work, but didn’t think to check Beta.
The client we are using is using the retail API so I don’t think those kind of macro work at all.
I use mouse over macro to clear your totems with ease, hunters and locks can do the same.
Here is the problem, the API allows for non macro solutions to the totem stomping… I don’t use such things but other people do this because a certain program is allowed to continue operating because the stuff that makes another UI mid work are considered “authentic” and a certain subset of players would freak if you took the training wheels away.
The same tool is also used by many locks, priests, druids and shaman for a host of reasons; mostly because they are bad and are doing the closest thing they can to botting with out breaking TOS.
Even without the macros you’re going to have a bad time. I mained this exact Resto Shaman throughout original TBC and it was incredible. I had a blast. My teams were consistently 2k+ rated and my partners and I got good enough late expansion to sell carries for weapons. Resto shaman felt powerful and impactful. Fast forward 12 years and I find myself on one of those servers we’re not supposed to talk about playing 70 arenas. I, naturally, remade my Shaman. And guess what? It was a bloodbath. I’ve never felt more powerless as a healer in my 16 years playing this game. What changed? People did. The meta. Knowledge. The skill floor. I rarely got kicked in 2007. I could juke 10 out of 10 interrupt attempts on me. In 2019? Good luck. People are way better than they used to be. Latency is lower. Reaction speeds are better. People pre-kick now. I was having Nature’s Swiftness dispelled off me before the animation even finished, with a /cast NS /cast Healing Wave macro. Every team, even at low ratings, where Control-1 pet attacking my totems or using rank 1 moonfire, rank 1 sw:p, anything to stomp. Even hiding totems behind LoS was only marginally effective. I don’t think I ever got even half a mana tide totem duration. Earth Shield is COMPLETELY dispelled with one dispel. EVERY STACK. It wasn’t until 3.2 that this was changed:
So you’re stuck with no totems, bloodlust and ES getting instantly removed by every team with half a brain, practically zero instant-cast options and trying to juke 20 interrupts and pseudo-interrupts to get hardcasts off with your one school of magic. Miserable. The second I started playing Rdruid and Disc priest my experience improved dramatically and my buddy and I went up 400 points in rating the first session.
TL:DR 16 years of meta knowledge and skill creep have turned Resto Shaman from an enjoyable 2vs2 healer into a nightmare fest. Still good for 3s and 5s in some teams, obviously. And like mandatory in raid. But man, the stomp macros are the least of your worries.
Survey says…no.
Still miles better than a hpally.
Ancient Astronaut Theorists say…yes.
Shockadins make for halfway decent double DPS comps later in the expansion imo.
Meme spec,lol
A “divine favor holy shock” will always kill someone at 10%.
Issue is hpallys are just trash all around, and they just dont have good comps, especially in 3s, there only real viable comp is double healer/war.
Shamans have some really great 3s comps, typically always paired with a spriest for the dispell.
Rshaman/spriest/rogue
Rshaman/spriest/mage
Rshaman/spriest/lock
Rshaman/Hpally/warrior
All 4 of those will be solid choices.
And Rshaman/Ret/Arms are the two comps I played in TBC. They benefit from Rshaman’s few strengths - totems and bloodlust. Also, the Spriest/Ret can somewhat support the shaman through the inevitable RMP train-the-blue matches, which will be literally half of what you queue into.
Yeah, Rshaman (and even Elemental, oddly) have a few decent 3s comps. And a shaman is mandatory in the 5vs5 meta. But most people are probably most engaged with the 2vs2 bracket. Participation statistics have proven this for a very long time.
What’s my best comp bet for ele? I’m maining ele in raids so if I could PVP ele that would be ideal.
Would be 5s.
Hpally,war,ele,disc,frost mage
Also known as “2345”.
There are a zillion changes to WoW that were made after TBC, that were made to “improve” the game. If Blizzard added all of those changed, we would have retail. We wouldn’t have TBC at all.
I disagree with EVERY thread that says “make MY favorite change, but don’t make OTHER players’ favorite changes”. Like it or not, YOU are not more important than other players.
Yes I am tho
4 elemental shamans and a holy Paladin in 5’s… heck maybe just 5 ele
There was a 5 elemental shaman multiboxer who got gladiator in TBC. I don’t remember his name. Ael something I think?
I remember seeing the screenshot of all his shamans on their drakes. Pretty funny.
People think hunters are “Good” because they have that same double healer meme mana drain thing.
The double healer war isn’t a mama drain comp so idk what you mean?
You get a warrior who knows how to pump and he will solo whole teams with double healer.
I guess this is my only option for 3s. Time to find a pumper warrior.
