This is the item in question.
So what this potion does is it gives Mana and Health. Fine sure, it’s a rejuvenation potion.
However it’s the secondary effect:
For 20 seconds it gives Attack Power, and Spell Damage.
Not spell power, spell damage.
Which means any healers whom are Alchemists don’t really benefit from their special craft this patch, because we’re going to be spending our time healing, and we’re not gonna use our big mana potion cool down for much less mana, and no additional benefits.
I was initially hopeful when the Gnomer world buff provided spell power instead of spell damage, like the Blackfathom Deeps one did, that it would be updated as well to be spellpower.
But as a Resto Shaman that took Alchemy, I kinda feel like I’m just being left out to dry with nothing to really benefit from.

Also annoying that they made it a damage cooldown. If I wanted to play with cooldowns I would play a class that has them. Homogenization is what killed wow and made retail.
Hopefully the mistake isn’t repeated at 60.
I just want to feel like I am getting some benefit from my Profession like everyone else is getting some small bonus.
I was honestly expecting an Alchemist Stone upgrade, not a potion.

yeah I’m hoping they go with the trinket route and then maybe enhance its effects with max level herbalism
would be really neato jets

Also makes you take 100% more physical, nature, and shadow damage… Been tanking with this and would randomly die sometimes after potting HP/Irradiated pot as an emergency and just found this out.
Needless to say they’re not going to be used anymore unless there’s a change made

That is indeed unfortunate, given how much of that damage is very prevelant in the raid.
Was going to make another post, pls upvote. Make it spell power so healers can benefit!
Is it really so hard for blizzard to make all professions balanced? I went alchemy/herb to help my guild out and the potion even without the side-effects still isn’t as good as the tailored helm. It’s a massive dps decrease to be anything but tailoring as a cloth dps. And then I learn that using this potion will kill me on bosses like the 4th when I have to eat static shock.

It is almost like some sort of weird allegory for pushing technology too far and undoing all the good it did or something,…In Gnomeregan? NAH couldn’t be.
LOL, spell damage items in classic have always increased healing. Lesser arcane elixir, Wizard Oil, etc. This is 100% a non-issue.
Sigil of Innovation also increases healing.
If you’re unsure about something…
Curse addons → Extended Character Stats
I have that mod.
However spell damage stuff doesn’t say that it increases my healing power on the Mod read out.
As far as I am aware, if it does Healing, it says “Increases the Effects of Healing Effects by X” if it does both it says “Increase the effects of damage and healing by x” and at least based on what I’m seeing when I use on of those items, anything that just increases spell damage, does not increase spell healing. This was a frustration with the BFD buff last phase as it did not increase healing (Unless you were an arcane mage I suppose?)
It does.
Damage goes up to healing, Healing doesn’t go down to damage.
Always has in classic.
Easy test… go get a lesser wizard oil.
Check your stats sheet.
Put on the oil.
Check your stats sheet again.
Your healing power will have gone up.
It did. All + spell damage is + damage and healing… they just don’t have it typed out on a lot of stuff for whatever reason.
Again, 100% a non-issue.
Mages benefit from it just fine.
I litearlly just tested this with a lesser Arcane Elixir.
that specifically increases spell damage by 14
I had 241 Healing power before the buff, and 241 Healing power after the buff.
Buffs that increase specifically “Spell Damage” do not increase healing power.
If a item increases “Spell Power” or “Effects of Damage and healing Spells” then it does both.
Now I know you’re lying. Or you didn’t close and re-open your character sheet because I tested it before I posted it to make sure I wasn’t crazy lol
0/10 troll post.
I am not trolling, I literally logged in, bought some crystal vials, made the elixir. Checked my stats before, drank the potion, checked the stats after, then closed and reopened my character sheet (Even though it updated all my SPELL DAMAGE by 14 immediately) to confirm that it does not infact increase healing power.
Specifically things that increase “Spell damage” without it saying “Spell damage and healing effects” only increase the offensive power of damage spells. Not all spells.

See my Healing power = Spell power
See that Sigil of Innovation? Its + Spellpower.
the item specifically states: Gain an enchanted sigil of innovation, empowering you to deal up to 20 increased damage and healing with spells, and increasing attack power by 20 for 30 min. This can only be applied outside of combat. (30 Min Cooldown)
The sigil does both, it says so in the item description.
the irradiated Rejuvenation potion only does spell DAMAGE. Not Damage and healing. Just like the lesser Arcane Elixir, that only does DAMAGE, not Damage and healing.

Gottem, check top right corner. That would be my lesser wizard oil.
MB though I’m tired, I should have led with the LWO.
I know for a fact it doesn’t’ work with Spell Damage Elixirs like the Rejuvenation Potion or the Leseser ARcane Elixirs, or the Blessing of Blackfathom. That’s the problem. That’s the whole reason I bought this thread up, is because those items are not increasing healing power.
The blackfathom depths wizard oils also only provided spell damage, and did not increase spell healing, which is why I never used it all of phase 1, because it was pointless and I got more mana per 5 running shamatic rage with rock biter than the wizard oil.
