It used to be a big meme that the baddies of WoW loved insulting our mortality, but I think the problem goes even deeper than that. Literally everyone who ever called us “mortal” has amounted to little more than some giant gigachad-looking monster who talks slow, thinks he’s 1,000% more interesting than he actually is, and has the personality of a brick.
WoW’s got a villain problem. A very big villain problem, and part of that problem is that they’re all terribly boring. Forcing the writers to come up with something beyond some random eldritch horror that considers us to be ants until we inevitably kick their face in during the final raid tier would at least go part of the way towards fixing the problem.

I don’t know, I really liked Gul’dan.
Gul’dan was at least entertaining in his hubris, but he’s part of a bad trend too.
That is, he never got to be the main villain of either expansion he was in. The characters with actual personalities, the Gul’dans, the Azsharas, the Denathriuses… they are constantly shoved aside so that we can fight the villains the writers think are top-tier. Respectively, this was Sargeras/Argus, N’zoth, and the Jailer.
Years from now, will any of us be talking about how the dialogue from these three bad guys wowed us? No. We’ll be talking about how much of a let-down they all were.
So why on earth are we not pushing for Gul’dan, Azshara, and Denathrius to be the actual headliners? Do the writers actually think we just want big, bad, and bland?

I personally like being called a “Mortal” by the villains. It just makes it even more satisfying when we catch villains off guard by defeating them because they think we are weak.
Arms warriors wouldn’t be too threatening then. Mortal Strike would just be Strike.

Makes little sense in cases like N’zoth and the Jailer, who have been watching us at least since Legion so that they can enact their master plans.
We killed a World Soul and imprisoned a Titan, then blasted an Old God with a planet laser.
All future villains that are even remotely paying attention should be proceeding with exceptional care. To do otherwise just relegates them to the large compendium of idiots that only gets bigger every expansion.
And that’s not even mentioning the fact that being called a “mortal” probably isn’t even accurate if you’re playing a death knight, forsaken, or demon hunter anyway.
How dare those villains assume my life-span potential.

They can just change the name of “Mortal Strike” to “Hit Hard.” Long as it still does good killing, that’s fine by me.

lol, do you really think Blizzard would make a pvp focus xpac ever. The logic of mortals never cease to amuse me.
One could hope.
The entire zone could be the biggest mountain on Azeroth. Both sides fighting their way up the mountain while the endboss stands on top of the mountain yelling things like
“IT HAS BEGUN!”
“FINISH HIM”
And when you reach the top and fight him, when he kills a member of your group, there ain’t no rez, no no, he throws you off the mountaintop all the way to the bottom.
Where you rez and begin the LOOOOONG trek back up.
That’s if you can find a group to cooperate with you, cause it’s all free for all pvp.
There can be only one champion afterall.
