To be fair, Shadowlands, in my opinion, has damaged the roleplay community quite a bit. I agree that it would be an incredibly difficult thing to do, but I wouldn’t mind a major time-skip with the solution of our characters becoming less well-known.
I love WoW lore and I’ve always been an avid roleplayer, but I believe the game’s health should come first and then they can pay attention to the roleplay community and their needs. I wish they would do more for roleplayers, as well.
Lol well maybe mob justice was too potent of a term. But my point was that blizz had tons of feed back on the impact some of their choices in the games design would be during beta testing. They basically ignored it.
And now here we are with unhappy customers, a lot of them.
Sure, that’s reasonable OP.
BUT I’m not putting down the pitchfork. They’ll need SEVERAL good pokes to keep them on course.
What they are doing is a good thing but it is them trying to save face and it is a pattern they have been doing since legion where they launch an expansion after people doong the beta testing and in some cases in the aplha before hand told them there would be problems . It isn’t until around a year later when player numbers have dropped that they implement the changes players told them should of been done before launch and admit to us players that they were wrong .
Like clock work by the time the latest ptr is complete and it is ready to go live , it will nost likely be November which puts it a pretty much the 1 year mark .
Yes but only because it is very difficult for RPers to ICLy get involved in Shadowlands content.
Depending on the time skip or retcon you could wipe out hundreds of player and guild stortylines. A bad idea.
And while WoW’s community was hurt it is still doing better than FFXIV’s community sure there are more players and more features for RP but the lack of Mod support for RPers like wow allows with profile add-ons such as MRP and TRP hurts them and the amount of RPers does not matter if the Rp basically amounts to:
Now FFXIV is starting to catch up they have not allowed add on supoort yet but they have started to clean up the um “Goldshire People” however currently WoW is still the place for good quality RP.
THere will most likely be a final raid in 9.2 involving the jailer with possibly some dread lords to fight and Loot Pinata Anduin .
Yes and the thing about patterns we could be wrong …remember the every other x pack pattern that made us all think Shadowlands was going to be great?
Also the fact you are still here and posting shows that you too are hopeful that change will happen because if you were not you would not still be subbed.
This is what people have done for 5 years.
Enough is enough.

If you HONESTLY think nothing is changed and nothing will change then why Are you still here? Why are you still subbed? Why are you still posting? Why do you still care?
I’m not subbed. I unsubbed months ago but this is the consequence of selling 6m subs for cheaper than 1m subs- you end up with people like me explaining why you unsubbed for months
I’m playing the forums to recoup my money.
Every time I suggest to people on the forums to just wait and see before starting in on the whinefest, people get mad.
People were mad about 9.1.5’s “content” before Blizzard even told us what it was, back when it was just “oh yeah we’re planning some velf/lfd customizations”
Uproar, “where’s the class balance? Where’s the content? Is that it? This is so unfair!”
And I’m like “we don’t even have patch notes yet, relax”
And people still got mad like “but we already know it’ll suck”
And I’m like
Yes I am hoping they don’t repeat the mistake of the last 3 expansions and decide not to wait until there is such a massive drop in players during an expansion to implement the changes.
I would rather they be proactive and do changes before hand then be reactive and do them after the damage has already been done.
So basically you have no horse in this race, why should anyone care about your opinion?
I would have a horse in the race if wow was fun again lol.

Well I think by next x pack we will know for certain until then we can only guess.
I’ll let others buy the beta and find out for me.

I am willing to be cautiously optimistic with 2 new folks running wow. I’ll see what changes they make. Even if my sub lapses, I can still read the news and patch notes.
Being cautiously optimistic does not mean praising to the skies. Give feedback, criticize what deserves it. But I agree, let’s see what happens.

The thing is that has been going on since Cata when they made SW and Org the hubs , Same with MoP with the shrines , Legion with Dalaran, BfA with Boralus and Dazar’Alor as well as SL with Oribos.
All of those places are within the Trade chat channel pervue as was garrisons yet it was garrisons that destroyed the community ?
There is no difference in being in SW and seeing a player next to you that you probably aren’t going to say anything to and talking in trade as there is sitting in your garrison talking n trade as you wait for your dungeon or BG queue to pop.
There are a lot of factors here that make this too hard to call.
First, Afrasiabi might have cared very much for the game, because it is what allowed him to continue his behavior. We have no way of knowing really.
Also, the impact of the lawsuit is likely to make things worse for a while before they get better. They might be dumping some of the bad seeds, but there is going to be a huge adjustment period while new processes are developed in order to avoid that in the future (which will disrupt the work environment). Then there is likely to even be a bit of over-compensation that will cause some disruption too. And the amount of water-cooler talk on the topic will be an immense drag on labor hours.
Things will get better but it could be quite a while before things settle at the office (possibly a year or so, depending on the lawsuit) and then another year or more before we can see any real results in the game… if we even do.
On the bright side, Blizzard is going to be more inclined to throw stuff at us that they have been intentionally holding off on… so get ready to be bribed!
Afrasiabi was never in charge of wow though .
THis comes from one of the new co-leaders of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Ybarra

Ion is where the buck stops . Don’t get me wrong I am glad Afrasiabi is gone and others like him but the issues of the game fall at the feet of the person in charge of it .
