Is lame that every time we will want to ride a different skin of the drakes you will have to return to valdrakken to change it. Just make the skins into normal mounts tbh.
If they did that, not doing the math exactly but estimating the number of cosmetics available… We’d have well over 10.000 mounts just from the Dragonriding ones.
… more realistically we’d easily be in the billions of mounts, but those are more difficult numbers to grasp so let’s stick to 10.000+ mounts.

“Full tranformations”. Like the Raz and Fyrakk one’s. Asking for every single combination to be available is dumb.

Kinda figured you meant those but… honestly, that still doesn’t make that much sense. If you got the full transformations and you want to swap out from them, why did you equip them in the first place? They are full transformations, you either like what they are or you don’t.
And if you want another dragonriding mount you still have 6 other options of which you could’ve customized already if you want to change outside of Valdrakken or any of the myriad of camps around the Dragon Isles in which you can do it.
So can’t help but see no real reason to decouple them from the models since they are supposed to be full transformations of them. They could’ve had a different system in place but consolidating all of the customization options, including full transformations, into one place just seems to make more sense.
Maybe a more realistic option would be to request a portable dragonriding wardrobe station instead? Since they are here to stay and going to be the primary type of flying mounts for the rest of the game most likely, so greater access to it makes sense. Just not the complete decoupling of these as separate mounts.
I got the achievement for getting all the renewed proto-drake customizations today and in that moment it dawned on me i hadn’t seen my “renewed proto drake” and its customizations for MONTHS, ever since i got the raszageth skin and then after the heroic fyrakk skin. I came here to suggest this and found out this thread.
As an exaple of how to do this, refer to the Winding Slitherdrake and the Auspicious Arborwyrm, they are both the same drake, and at first i thought the Arborwyrm would be a full-transformation of the Slitherdrake just like the gladiator mounts but it wasn’t, and it’s great that i can ride the arborwyrm AND the slitherdrake with all the customizations i’ve gathered for it at any time.
Any “full transformation” skin should just be a standalone mount.
That sounds reasonable post-Dragonflight, honestly
