The mana / health leeching Vampire has been a core part of our fantasy since Vanilla. Is blood magic really outside of our scope?
Blood Magic is also the magic of Old Gods. So when I think of Nya’Lotha I think of that deep purple and red color scheme, and I think Shadow Priest would look so much cooler with that color pallet rather than pure Void everything. Shadow Priests have the power of the San’Layn and Nathrezim in their fantasy, which are the two closest things we have in game to Vampires. Even if it was just blood themed talent choices that were optional that we could spec in to to get a specific theme for our character without changing too much fundamentally. These talents would have an emphasis on leeching resources from the target thus improving regeneration and improving the vitality of the party.
Spitball Talent Ideas for Blood Themed Talents -
Blood Pool - A talent that replaces Dispersion with Blood Pool, sucking life out of enemies and healing yourself and allies. Since it does not generate mana or increased speed, perhaps cause Blood Pool to spread Shadow Word: Pain to every target it hits to help them keep pace in Mythic +.
Blood Bolt - A talent that replaces Void Bolt with Blood Bolt. Blood Bolt does less damage but you can use it as a heal on yourself or an ally and you can use it while casting Mind Flay.
Bloodbeast - A talent that replaces Shadowfiend with Bloodbeast, which becomes larger and more powerful with each successful melee hit while spawning blood orbs that heal allies when walked over.
Blood Shield - Replaces your PW: Shield. Deals a small amount of damage to the priest for a massive absorb.
Blood Barrier - Create a Blood Barrier that increases all spell damage within the barrier and reduces the healing of all enemies inside by x %.
Leech - A replacement for Void Torrent. Assume a shadowy form to leap behind your enemy and feast on their blood for 2 seconds, dealing x damage, consume their resources, and then returning 100% back to you. Leeching mana will increase your mana. Leeching energy, focus, rage etc. will boost your Insanity bar. Insanity does not deplete while Leeching.
^Imagine casting your Void Elf Racial, then leaping to the healer to drain his mana with a Vampire’s Bite via Leech, then fearing them before taking the Racial teleport? That’s a level of mobility we’ve never seen from Spriest and could be very cool! We are a floating, ethereal blob of shadow energy while in Void Form… I think we should be whisping around more in general.

I’m fine with that because it would fit my transmog perfectly.
we got voidform because the spec “felt” like Aff Lock. you think they gonna give us the main theme of another spec (Blood DK)? highly doubt it.

Nah, stick with the deep mind/ psychic theme.

I think asking for the mechanic of the spec to be reworked to appeal more to this Vampire theme is thinking about theme and concept in a wrong way.
I do recognize we have two iconic abilities that have Vampire in there names so i get where why you would think of the spec that way.
first of all I would love to see Vampiric embrace turned into a passive/active similar to pallys aura. you would have a passive leech in shadow form (say %10) it increases in voidform (say up to %15) and you would still have the spell to activate pumping the % to 100 and healing you and 3-5 other most injured allies.
now that Vampiric Embrace is out of the way. Blizz can easily make glyphs to change the way spells look to appeal more towards a certain theme.
I understand that there whole idea for shadow is an occultist who worships the old gods or other entities form the Void. which can totally work because what if my priest worships a vampiric deity from the void.
you see where theme and mechanic are separated( or should be). MY issue is Blizz is making each class so limiting and binding in an mmorpg.

Personally I’m all for player choice, I think they should add a LOT more glyphs to all classes, so that players can decide.
So I like the idea of a blood glyph set. I’d also like a bunch of glyphs of alternate shadowform appearance:
- Glyph of Good Shadowform - Reverts your Shadowform to how it was before BFA
- Glyph of No Shadowform - You aren’t in Shadowform (or Voidform) whether in or out of combat
- Glyph of Combat Shadowform - You only appear in Shadowform when you enter Combat
- Glyph of Voidform - You are aesthetically in Voidform all the time

I want a Vladimir style blood pool!! it would basically be dispersion but with a Vampire theme! I don’t see how Shadow Priest can get shadow spells, void spells, plagues, even frost spells at times, and even has vampiric spells but blood magic is off the table? It seems like the primary magic school a dark cultist would use to heal themselves or their allies.
Shadow, Void, Frost, Blood. These themes together would make priest a thematic powerhouse. Healing with shadow and blood magic, and assaulting enemies with void and frost. Blood Elf and Troll Shadow Priests would love Blizzard forever.

I don’t think you fully understood what i’m saying.
if you want them create an alter theme to the spec and reinforce it in our talents as blood mages that will never happen because there is a whole spec in the game that has blood magic as its theme and concept (Blood DK)
however what i’m saying is make glyphs that change your spells to appeal more towards blood magic.
I searched this and there are no source that mentions the old gods using blood magic other then G’huun who is a result of the Pantheon experimenting on old gods( meaning he did not use blood magic naturally but as a result of experiment on him).
However what I’m saying is give us glyphs to appeal more towards blood magic because what if my priest worships a vampiric entity from the void.
in other words… I don’t think they will make blood magic spells for shadow especially because we have a whole zone in SHadowlands dedicated to that (Revenderth) and a whole spec dedicate to it but they can give us glyphs to appeal towards that…but I strongly doubt that too because there is a whole spec dedicated to blood magic called BLOOD DK.
I love all the ideas except this glyph because Voidform is supposed to be this OP form.
I would also love to add another one where shadowform effect turns into corruption gear effect since we are losing corruption gear next expan anyway.
id just settle for some love from blizzard
Well ideally I’d say they should just #RemoveVoidform and make it a purely aesthetic choice

We use abilities of the faceless, and they have been known to have a taste for blood.
I stan for this. I’ve been wanting to play a blood mage/priest type character without having to go melee and wear plate armor(aka Blood DK). I think adding maybe a quest line like warlock green fire for priests where you have to do things in relation to the blood trolls/revendreth/bleeding hollow clan would be pretty awesome and would honestly work. Your spells would all change to fit the blood/vampyr theme. I would absolutely love that!

I also Stan for this.
No idea who Stan is, but it sounds like he has some good ideas.

I know that we have a blood option in game that is blood dk, but that doesn’t mean that there can’t be a blood caster. If things would be like you are saying priest and paladins shouldn’t exist… only 1 of them Same as Frost mage and Frost dk.

you make very good point. again I’m pro options and strongly want Blizz to give us the option to fully realize our own vision of our character.
I mean we do have 2 iconic spec spells that have the word vampire in them and there was a point in time where we were the only ones with passive leech.
I would love to see that

Stan is popular parlance for being a fan, or superfan, of something.
It comes from the Eminem song, “Stan”.

Idk if Shadow is really a vampire-ish spec in the sense of blood magic
I’d say we’re more akin to a thought harvester, or psychic vampire
I mean, we have 3 core spells with the word “Vampiric” in it, which is infinity more than any other spec.
So we’re the most vampire.
