Can someone write a BFA Ashran guide?

I searched on the Internet for one hour and found no post-8.0 Ashran guide. All guides are for 6.x patches.

I don’t have a freaking clue in the BG. Many people don’t either. It’d be really nice if someone could write one. I didn’t play Draenor so can’t help much here.

Good idea.

One of the Ashran experts should step up.

Step 1: Queue for epic battleground
Step 2: Sit in queue for x minutes
Step 3: Feel surge of disappointment when seeing the WoD splash screen
Step 4: Enter BG and realize that it is indeed Ashran
Step 5: Click on BG tab on minimap
Step 6: Select leave battleground

As long as most of the team doesn’t go on safari for fragments, ambush the horde in dark woods, grab a flower, fall back to ogre, push up to mage tower, kill the mage, wipe out the 20-30 horde reinforcements remaining and enjoy your 8 minute win

Solid guide, would use again

I’ve been playing WoW for 15 years. I’m getting quite efficient at learning contents by reading online resources.

This is one of the very very rare occasions where I truly can find nothing about it! And it’s an epic battleground!

I can help you out OP. First of all I will list the 8.2.5 patch notes for Ashran:

New Ancient Artifact: Solar Sphere

  • A new artifact of power has been discovered in Ashran’s underground mines—the Solar Sphere . The faction who captures its power will gain 20% haste while controlled.

  • Many of the NPCs within the Road of Glory have been removed to improve performance.

  • Fangraal and Kronus now cost 3,000 Artifact Fragments (was 300).

  • Fangraal and Kronus now deal increased damage and have a new a melee cleave ability.

  • The Reinforcement count has been reduced to 150 (was 300).

  • Front Line Fortitude now increases health to all melee players and NPCs within the Road of Glory by 100% (was 30%).

  • The Ancient Artifact now spawns after a player kills the Ancient Inferno rather than randomly spawning on the map.

Alright now I will discuss the current meta for Ashran.

With the reduction to reinforcement numbers from 300 down to 150, a Grand Marshal Tremblade/High Warlord Volrath kill is no longer viable. While you could aim to kill the opposing boss via the backdoor strategy (many Alliance teams try this strategy) I would advise against this. This is due to the fact that one player is left behind to call out an incoming backdoor raid, thereby having your raid subsequently wiped out to the incoming defence.

The tower mages Jeron Emberfall (Horde mage) and Rylai Crestfall (Alliance mage) are now the present meta. Both mages count for 50 kills (a third of your reinforcement count). However don’t expect them to be easy kills as Horde and Alliance will defend them viciously.

The Ancient Artifact which now spawns from Ancient Inferno is rarely obtained. If a team decides to go for the Inferno you risk the enemy pushing forward without obstruction and the death of your mage.

The Solar Sphere is located in the mines in Rukmaz’s Vault. This sphere I highly suggest you control as it gives your team a 20% haste buff for as long as you control it. The sphere can change from hand to hand so it’s not always permanent. Only one faction can control it at a time, so make sure it’s yours.

Kronus and Fangraal now require 3000 artifacts. Do not go on a artifact safari. The cost is far too high and the time you do have must not be wasted on obtaining artifacts. The match ends before you can even think of summoning these two.

Kor’lok the Ogre King is still fought over. However once your faction controls him, he is easily kited so he may not stay up long depending on the teams. He also gains stacks for a debuff called:

Curse of Kor’lok

A debuff which cannot be dispelled.

Rares which drop 2 spell books per class and only usable in Ashran, are still obtained even with these Ashran changes. Alliance usually goes to Molten Quarry to kill Titarus, while Horde goes to Brute’s Rise to kill Brickhouse.

Lastly there is an item called Song Flower in The Dark Woods. When used it increases all stats by 15% and persists through death. Be warned though, because of the location of the woods near the Horde base you will either likely see Horde near the area or Horde in the area obtaining these. Careful you don’t get picked off by them.

It’s basically the same, but with a 150 resource limit similar to AV. The trouble with the new epic bg version, however, is that the “advantages” to each of the subzones is not distributed with balance. The most beneficial buff is next to Warspear therefore Horde always get there first and then can immediately down the ogre for the king’s help. Given that random groups are rarely well organized, the challenge is doubly difficult for Alliance to win. It can happen, but it’s hard partly because discouraged players abandon it. The revolving cast of disillusioned players then can’t keep up. At least in Wintergrasp the team that starts as defense rotates (though RNG has been harsh on me of late: I’ve only been on offense, the last several days).

Hopefully Blizzard does something to correct the imbalances in Ashran, but I’m not sure how they could without diverging greatly from the original. Still, something needs to be done.

We need to have the opt out selection back, too. It sucks to always get drawn into Ashran because Horde love it and select it specifically. That or random players only play random players, rather than random players getting stuck filling the opposing team for all those who select it specifically.

I’d forgotten why I stopped doing battlegrounds when the black out option went away. I’m rapidly losing interest again as I get WG offense and Ashran almost exclusively for random epic.

The non-epic azerite collection one (see, I don’t even remember the name, I loathe it so much) is boring and frankly has a completely uninteresting goal. I’d forgotten it existed until I entered it randomly today. Clearly others don’t like it either because it was the first time I’d been in there since early after introduction.

Necromancer class confirmed :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s the mos useful video I’ve found: ‘https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KmdScA-CYw

thats the way the devs intend you to play it, but not the best.

for horde

Dark woods > grab a flower > kill ally/save mage/backdoor > kill ogre > skip map and kill ally mage >wait for map/hold ally at bridge > farm ally on bridge/kill trem**

for ally

Dark woods > grab a flower >kill horde > kill ogre >wait for map > hold horde at bridge, A FEW, ONLY A FEW* dps go up to kill horde mage > farm horde/kill volrath**

*horde mage is significantly harder to kill than ally mage because of the mechanics, competent dps only, and the fewer the better. living bomb creates a vertical knockback that knocks your team off the tower, you want only a few dps who know how to use the columns to LoS or fall down the tower when they have the buff.

** the ability to secure a boss kill depends on your teams ability to keep your tanking player*** alive and keep the enemy team suppressed. you have to do both PVE and PVP as the boss has a simple mechanic of dropping their flaming sword, it hurts, dont stand in it.

*** any player capable of tanking can, however threat is a problem when DPS tanks, and high threat players who stand on the bridge will pull the boss, if the boss cross the entrance threshold, they reset. so bad dps that can’t throttle can cost a boss kill, this can be countered by having everyone push in and cross the threshold(enter past the door) or using a threat MD or Tricks(was that pruned? i never see it anymore)

there are also toys and aspects to ashran to play with, things like the AA, and SS, as well as other buffs that certain players may want to consider depending on the circumstances.

This is a great guide. Thank you. One update for 2021: Kronus and Fangraal take 1500 artifacts and it is common for them to be summoned. However people get artifacts from killing elites jointly, NOT by grinding the trash mobs by yourself.

Holy necro batman.

That aside, I’ll make an updated guide for both the epic and the brawl since I can’t find any up-to-date guides and while I’m not usually one to toot my own horn, I can sufficiently say I’m qualified to make one for the zone. For… Reasons.
