So this happens every time I’m in Korthia, the Maw, or any relevant zone…
My friend (who plays on the same realm with the same WM status) invites me to party and I’m not sure why but it instantly phases me to his ‘realm’ (which is the same as mine) & sometimes this causes a rare I was about to fight to despawn, etc. or just cause other annoyances while I’m doing achievement stuff, etc.
Why would it phase me even though we play on the same realm?
War mode on or off is the main culprit I think. I’m sure there are other factors. World bosses do this a lot when a group is forming as well.I miss the days before all this crap

When I was multiboxing 5 accounts, I would log in them at the same place and they would be on 3 different phases.
5 players logging at the same time, on the same server, at the same location, 3 different phase. Some big servers have more phases probably. This was on area-52.
Happens to me and my running buddy too. We will be standing right next to each other in Korthia but unable to see each other until we party up. We are also on the same realm.
Its Sharding… You now enter a shard when you enter a zone. I think this is so the zones will be “full” regardless of the server your on, and is the reason you and your friend can be standing in the same spot but cant see each other.
Its crap, I believe its also the cause of the wonderful disappearing nodes out in the world, you know the ones, “tink, tink, YOU CANT LOOT THAT RIGHT NOW”… It probably has a lot to do with why they wont do more server merges or transfers off dead realms.
It really needs to go away. I would love to go back to MY REALM, no shards, no CRZ, no phasing.

Agreed. It completely ruins immersion, imo.
Phasing is basically another instances of the zone you are in. It is used to help spread out the load for a zone across multiple versions of itself, so when one “phase” becomes to crowded, it will create another one and shuffle off new people entering into that one. Now if you invited into a group, you join that players phase. So if it is different than your own, you will notice the world around you reload into that phase.
So there’s phasing and there’s sharding, similar but different
you shut it off while in Korthia? you need to go back to Oribos and then zone in or there’s a chance you wont be on the same shard.
Sorry, he is right. I was discussing sharding, phasing is the tech they use when an area is tied up in a story line progression. For example the area around ICC using phasing, you can be in a group and both of you are actually in a different phase because you are at different points in the story line.
