Why… just WHY, especially with the new AH last-in/first-out policy, do people even take the TIME to THINK about undercutting? Do people REALLY believe that if something costs 991g 94s, that someone is sitting there hawking the AH for someone to put that same item up for 991g 89s? Do people not realize that the shopper is not there for the deal, but THE ITEM ITSELF? Help, this one hurts my brain.
No because it’s easy to put stuff on AH and they can get onto their next activity.
sometimes you want a fast turn around. a 10%+ undercut can usually convince people playing the AH to scoop up and resell your stuff quick.
I think you’d have better luck building an interstate highway going from Los Angeles to Hawaii than you would getting an answer on this one. It’s something I’ve been trying to figure out myself for years.
However, I’ll do you one better: the people that CONSTANTLY undercut to the point where the items are being sold on the AH for LESS than the vendor price.
At that point, it isn’t even a matter of trying to buy up all the cheap stock and reposting it since they’ll just do that crap again. I’ll buy it, and if I don’t have a character that can do anything with the items, I’ll just turn around and vendor it.
As far as insignificant undercuts go, my only guesses are they either missed the memo about the AH being LIFO now or have an addon that’s doing it automatically.
Yes I’m looking for the item that is the cheapest, welcome to the free market.
True to an extent, but you’ve got to be careful with an extremely heavy undercut on this system on stuff that is heavily traded. Lots of folks just blindly post, and those that do so with AH addons are generally auto undercutting. That stuff tends to lead to a chain reaction that eventually puts stuff under the price you’d get selling to a vendor.
It would have to be a tunnel. Problem is going through the Hawaiian Trough in the North East Pacific Basin. The depth there can be as much as 6,000 meters.
i post stuff at default price AH tells me
Because when I put stuff on the AH, I want it sold right then, not to still be on the AH 8 hours later so that I have to reput it there. Im not a shop keeper, I want to get rid of the stuff as quick as possible for a somewhat good price.
LIFO also depends on the item. If you’re selling crafting mats, it’s silly to undercut. If you’re selling a piece of gear or recipe, the buyer can choose which one they want, so it does pay to undercut.
I have another question.
Draconic Vials rank 1 are sold by the npc.
For some reason they are also for sale at the AH and for some reason they are more expensive at the AH than at the npc.
I bought 200 Vials and put them for sale on the AH.
Not only did I get my gold back, I also made a nice profit.
I don’t understand how these things happen.
I don’t know, sometimes you just wanna sell fast so you undercut the right amount so that it will prompt other sellers to buy yours out to relist it.
I usually don’t care what the ‘current price’ is. I post for what I would pay for a thing. I get my gold, the AH flippers get to play their game. Win-Win.
Because I am lazy so just search for everything in the materials list and buy it all at once from the AH. Same thing for cooking mats
Well the shopper is there for the deal and has been moving to the crafting orders to get or try to get better deals. But I agree, moving things to such a low price is just done by people who really don’t care. It’s why this economy will always be screwed up in this game.
I’m one of those people who look for that and then vendor it xD. It’s amusing to me sometimes. Gives new meaning to ‘making money off the AH’ XD.
I don’t know, it usually works for me… Keep in mind that the auction house STARTS with the cheapest item in a list of items… the person who sells HIGHEST is effectively screwing themselves out of a purchase… and ad infinitum down to whoever sells cheapest and most recently…
It depends on what it is. I’m not going to undercut crafting resources, that’s just silly.
looks at two items. One is 1 gold, the other is 99 silver buys the 99 silver one to save a copper
Walks away smiling and whistling “toss a coin to your witcher”
