Can someone please explain to me the use of Slam?

Hey guys,

Just hit 30 in classic on the warrior. Slam costs 1.05g to learn. What does it actually do / what is its purpose? I can’t for the life of me see a reason to purchase it, let alone have it on my bars? Can anyone shed some light on this in case im missing something here?

Thanks in advance.

Isn’t Slam just a really hard hit? Like bigger than some of your other moves?

Been a while. I haven’t Warrior’ed in a bit.

useless. blizzard needs to explain the use for it.

haha retail player thinks each move has a use ahhaha

It’s basically just a rage-dump for slow-hitting, 2h weapons, I wouldn’t bother getting it unless you use those and have an excess amount of rage that you’re not using on anything else.

Edit: I also don’t recommend getting it if you pvp.

Slam is great when you have a hugely slow 2h weapon. You talent it and you can blow pent up rage for a quick flurry. I used it all the time in raids and dungeon boss fights.

its ur filler if ur not fighting a rogue

still a newb doesn’t

It’s for raiding you can pick it up later.

Imagine a 3.5+ second two hander, you autoattack and you get rage.

You use that rage on either slam or heroic strike (pre 40), if you use heroic strike your next autoattack gets converted from white to yellow (meaning you get no rage from it) but it does extra damage. So the rage cost of heroic strike is misleading, its the base cost + the rage you would have gotten from the white hit it consumes.

If you use slam it starts a cast bar and resets your swing timer. So if you use it just after a swing you get a big damage hit and then your swing timer restarts but if you use it just before a hit lands its very very bad. Best use would be to have rage pooled do a few back to back slams while damage buffs are going (orc racial).

From the levelling I did I never found a use for it, once I got over 40 between mortal strike and whirlwind I never had enough rage even if I pulled multiple mobs pooled for sweeping strikes and blew bloodrage… I just didn’t generate enough and if I pulled too many I died.
