Can someone give me a precise definition of "edgelord"?

this thread is more of a curiosity of mine, in my experience i see the term being used very subjectively.
so give me your definition of edgelord, being that a person or a character, and why you don’t like them.

I think it’s like the word “casual”, a lot of different people use it in different ways.

In your case, a mirror. Every choice you made for your character screams edgelord.

In the general term an edgelord is someone who tries very hard to have a persona that they are rebels. They arent like the rest of society. They are the type of person who you would say “I have been working on a +20 underrot this week, but cant get it done.” and an Edgelord would say “I timed a +22 Underrot on week 3 with four separate characters. But I didnt log them because I dont need people trying and failing to tell me how to play my chars.”

Another term for them is “Pizza Cutters”. All Edge. No Point.

Except for negative emotions

Someone who will always play devil’s advocate even when the folks they’re doing it for have committed genocide. :3

One who has studied the blade.

Contrarian in a juvenile way, to the point of cringe.

This is why Illidan and emo approximate edgelords aesthetically for example

Dictionary definition of edgy: “at the forefront of a trend; experimental or avant-garde.”

What was originally avant-garde becomes passe; edgelord captures the awkwardness of someone trying to appear avant-garde, but in a way that’s obviously feigned or fallen out of style.

Demon Hunters and Deathknights.

Shadow was never ‘edgy the hedgy’ and that game is a complete destruction of his character. Thanks, Sega.

" I have sacrificed everything…" ohh wait wrong toon.

For sure. Shadow was completely fine in SA2. Dare i say even a good character with a believable character arc. And then Ow the Edge happend.

Seems sexist.

Why is there no female equivalent?

It is super sad that Sega has their dumb mandates right now because Ian Flynn wants to write Shadow properly SO BAD.
