Can someone get banned for what's in their MRP?

I’m kinda curious. I don’t have anything against people that stretch the edge of the envelope for RP purposes, but I just wanted to know if one could get banned for what’s in a third party addon. Like, if a newbie breaks lore or something, or if they have an “Intense” RP.

i presume it has to fly under everyone’s radar. if no one reports it, it doesn’t get looked at and life goes on

I was wondering how it worked. Thank you.

I don’t know if the player would get banned. They don’t usually ban people for what goes on in guild chat, and the RP community is kind of like one big guild, I guess.

no.

what do you mean?

Yes they can, there is a specific report button made for TRP/MRP as well for this purpose, as people can have things in those descriptions that can be deemed illegal or highly offensive.

I thought I recalled some action taken a bit ago to enable reports about RP profiles, and I found this article:

Of course, one should be reporting things that are a violation of the Code of Conduct, and not just someone’s slightly off attempt at creating their character’s story.

Like more edgy RP or if someone did strange ERP.

Yes, you can be banned for RP Profile content.

But more realistically, the ability to report RP profiles was added because of IRL Doxing and more serious stuff like that. People still have the filthiest Goldshire profiles imaginable like 2 years later, so either the RP Community in general doesn’t report, or Blizzard really only uses the feature for -serious- offenses.

At worst, think of it like in-game chat. You can get pretty out of line in chat and short of just blatant IRL racism, IRL threats, etc, you’re pretty unlikely to get actioned for anything. I’d say it’s not worth worrying about.

I have seen some rather odd RPs at goldshire. That was another reason I was asking. I wanted to know if there was a content line.

I mean, if you have some really weird stuff, as I have seen before a case of zoofilia in someone’s profile during one of my visits in Goldshire, you can report it and Blizzard in this case can ban you, but if you just have some pretty heavy but lighter than f.ed up stuff then you should be fine.

FWIW, even if you DO get actioned (very unlikely to begin with), it’s not going to go from 0 to BANNED. They’ll probably whisper or mail you in-game to clean it up and/or give you 24-hour chat suspension with an explanation or something like that.

Assuming it’s nothing actually serious.

I said a blatant racial slur in Trade Chat once and it was a 24 hour chat suspension and nothing more. I can’t imagine a raunchy/edgy/grimdark RP Profile would be any worse.

We currently live in a society where crap you said when you were 15 years old on a social media site that no longer exists that only got 4 views can get you fired and blacklisted from further employment.

Nothing is impossible

the sad thing is that you’re right. I can’t dispute that.

Reported someone once that had a bunch of racist comments and overly sexual themes, some of them including children. I took screenshots of the TRP of the character as well as the TRP attached to it.

Sent the screenshots in with the report. Got a response telling me to report it to the addon creator that there was nothing they could do about it.

There’s a report function for TRP, so I imagine something similar is done for MRP. For TRP, you can report anyone for anything that might be seen as hate speech on an OOC level, or meant to attack a group of people.

For example, I’ve seen some people include derogatory comments toward people who choose to RP something and speak of them in a manner that might come off hateful or racist. Those people should absolutely be reported because they’re looking to attack writers of various backgrounds as opposed to just keeping it IC.

If someone’s TRP says their character hates another race, that’s not a big deal. For example, someone saying their night elf isn’t a fan of dwarves. That’s whatever. It’s IC racism. It’s normal.

But for someone to say in their TRP something to the effect of “if you write this, then you’re -insert racist / hateful comment here-”, that’s not okay and should be reported immediately. It’s intentionally griefing people in a vague manner.

Sadly blizz wont do anything about it.

From the GMs own mouth. According to them you’ll have to report it to the addons creator. They don’t see it as “part of the game”

Define intense. Cuz that can mean a lot of different things. We talking highly graphic erp or some weird violent stuff?

I doubt this is true considering a lot of people on MG have begun adapting their TRP’s to take into consideration being reported. I’ve seen a number of profiles openly admit that their more “risque” pieces of art and such have been outright removed from profiles because they’ve been reported through that function and they refuse to be banned again.

I dunno. Maybe it’s a mixed bag.

I got banned for being a Half Gnome, Half Dragon, Half Elf.
