Can someone explain WOWs size logic?

So some of these NPCs are about the same size as our characters. I call them normal size.

Then you have some that are a bit bigger, like 30%, not sure why.

Now it seems like there are a lot of them, on average, twice our size.

And then you have the gigantic ones where I could take a bath in one of their shoes or something.

So I don’t understand why am I supposed to be doing all this raiding and questing and stuff when one of these big blue giants could just walk in and smoosh everything under their big feet?

And then there’s that thing to get Jaina out of the tower, and she has 200k+ health. Like couldn’t she get out on her own? Why are 2 million maw walkers special?!

Think of it like a CEO that’s locked in the janitor’s closet. She’s more powerful than us but we’re the ones with the keys.

In-game displayed size is equal to the importance of the character at the time, not their true size.

The best example of this is seen in the ICC Raid where Tirion/Arthas are 14 feet tall.

This is to make sure you can see and target them during the raid encounter and not how tall they really are.

Didn’t the Horde beat her up in Battle of Dazar’alor? she’s clearly not that powerful.

I mean took 20 to 30 people depending on the difficulty.

all sizes matter bby.

That’s what they say but it’s hard to get to Kalimdor in a rowboat if you catch my drift.

She still got beaten up by a bunch of Trolls though.

What if I surf my rowboat through a portal?

They are bigger so you can see them . We have pvp players who can;t find vendors playing this game

Pretty much this. I remember in Siege of Orgrimmar that Thrall was like four times as tall as normal when shouting down the ledge at an equally large Garrosh. Then he jumps down, gets punched into a wall, and shrinks because he is irrelevant to the fight with Garrosh, who stays huge.

I agree that it can get ridiculous. Dragons in human form should be huge, but other than that, if a boss is a playable race, they should never be more than 70% larger. Instead of a 6 foot human, 70% would make it a 10 foot human. Or an 8 foot troll or something would be 13.6 feet for a boss. That is ridiculous enough. Bigger isn’t always better, if the bigger can’t fit.

So if ION appeared in the game, he would be bigger than Azeroth itself.

The only size logic I care about is the size of Alexstrasza’s bust.

Agreed, but it’s still safe to assume powerful NPCs like pantheons and titans can change their sizes at will.

To an extent… remember there was a reason Sargeras required an Avatar.

This is something that has always bugged me about WoW, they base size of characters on gameplay mechanics (Bad guy big, you see good, you smash) instead of creating a cohesive world.

One of the few things I’ve really felt games like Guild Wars 2 always did better was create a pleasing, enjoyable world by making it feel like a world. WoW went a bit too far to the story side and the models reflect that.
