I was just wondering if someone could explain a recent instance I had in Wintergrasp.
I am lvl 120 alliance feral druid with an ilvl of 421. I was just trying to run Vault for some tmog. Naturally there was no one else in Wintergrasp on either side.
Due to the time left I knew I would not be able to flip it regardless. I was the attacking faction. And I know I have to kill enough NPC’s / enemies to rank up to get a vehicle. However… when I tried to kill the lvl 120 PVP guards? I found that they were quickly melting my health for some reason. My health regen abilities didn’t seem to offset the damage they were doing.
I did notice a debuff came up that said “Undulating tides” cannot trigger.
Was there some kind of update to the way azerite, etc. works in WG and is it affecting even the non-instanced version (as in one you don’t queue for)? Or does it have to do with it recently becoming an epic battleground?
Hi. I don’t know exactly what was happening in your situation. However, in the epic BG version of Wintergrasp the NPCs hit very hard, such that I don’t usually try to kill them unless I’m in a vehicle already. I can only guess they made the NPCs in non-BG Wintergrasp scale to hit as hard.
That may be because I didn’t queue for Wintergrasp. But it makes it difficult when your the only person in the BG trying to flip it just to do a tmog run in Vault. You just about have to kill 5 of the NPC’s to at least get the first vehicle.
You’ll need to bring friends. 5 ranks won’t be enough as you can only build the catapult and it’s not taking down the walls fast enough. 10 lets you get sieges.
I got a group of 4 together and we got into the chamber with 3 minutes or so left.
Yes the guards hit hard and you only get credit for the kill if you get the killing blow. So you would have to kill a minimum of 20 guards to get 2 people sieges.
I have no idea if it works, but I would try realm hopping to get into one that held the tower before I tried that again.
That’s what’s odd. I generally could kill the 10 required to get a siege solo previously. Even one siege was generally enough to breach the gates and make it to the core given the lack of other players of the opposing faction.
It just seemed like the Enemy NPC’s either received a significant buff or the things like azerite, etc. have been nerfed. I noticed that debuff that said undulating tides cannot trigger. Even so at lvl 120? I can’t figure out why my health is depleted so fast when it hadn’t before. I also wonder if it may in some way be tied to the corrupted gear? I do have the cloak that negates the effects of corruption. But I wonder if these mechanics are not factored in in WG? That’s merely speculation on my part though?
