Can someone explain to me a single lore reason War Mode even exists?

And before you jump on me I want to be clear, I love open world PvP. It is my favorite kind of PVP. I also love lore, story and head canon.

Genuinely can’t think of a single good reason now that the alliance and horde can just savagely kill each other while the faction leaders are best pals and we all work together to thwart evil

Because not all horde and alliance like the other. Even NPCs

So it gives players that option too

So because they dislike each other= commit war crimes and murder the opposing faction?

Something tells me you would be court martialed or something in today’s Azerothian climate

Someone kill-thiefed a quest mob.

Doesn’t really need lore justification it’s just people that want blood of the other faction.

That’s… pretty dumb but most likely the truth

Yup exactly isn’t it great that video games don’t abide my real life morals and law

Hi. This is a World of Warcraft. There are no war crimes in war mode.

Makes sense for those who play the game for them bloody tokens or whatnot.

The world pvp quests are also free-for-alls, so Horde players kill Horde players and Alliance kill Alliance in massive numbers.

The real answer to all these questions is: Because players are non-canon eternally-resurrecting puppets.

Where can I find said quests didn’t even know they existed? That sounds like good fun

I don’t like making real world parallels but, look at racial relations just from one generation ago. Not even on just the U.S. some hate goes back along way.

“Sure, I’ll help you out Anduin, but so help me if I see a night elf running around”

Nah it goes a step further for me.

I won’t help Anduin because he is tainted by the proximity to Gnomes.

He is tainted, I guess he’s got a hood pass from papa green

In war mode you’ll see a world quest up in one of the four zones with two crossing sword icons.

Ruffious in Dornogal. He pays you to go kill people.

It would be fun if in War Mode you could pick fights with opposing faction NPC quest givers, like Anduin. Sure he’d wreck you but there is something satisfying about getting a few licks in.

Nah turning on Anduin would hurt his feelers so bad that he’d spiral into another decade of emo.

That man’s got a heart of stone.

You got that twisted, boss, the question should be why the hell are the faction leaders acting like they are best buddies. But we all know why, cause Activision stopped giving a crap and decided to turn the Horde into the Red Alliance and bother writing the game for one faction as opposed to two.

Who knows, maybe Microsoft will give a crap.
