I am an old guy that has played off and on since 2004. I don’t get all the hate about streamer’s. Why are they so hated? Does it affect anyone’s play? I don’t get it, can someone explain it to me?

Evidently Streamers are folks who live stream themselves playing the game and people pay to watch them.
I know what a mess up world these Kids are doing to themselves.

Partly jealously, like any celebrity that people encounter.
As a celebrity they have a cult following of people who will devoutly protect the person against any perceived injustice. Like if you manage to kill the streamer during their streaming, their followers will yell “Stream Sniper!” and claim you used the stream to track them down. And then will mercilessly camp and taunt you, or do whatever they can to make your game miserable. Also, don’t let them know where you are on Twitter.

Am I a streamer?
- Do I live in my own place without any of my parents living with me.
- Do I get a paycheck
- Do I contribute in a meaningful way to the society I live in.
- Do I Resent putting my everyday life and telling every little things that cross my mind in front of a camera.
If the answer to all of these questions is no, you are probably a streamer

Honestly it’s because the forums are an echo chamber, they hear someone else doesn’t like something and form their opinion on that, you’d think by reading the streamer threads here that kel’thuzad (asmons server) must be some horrible unplayable mess with “fanboys” everywhere.
The reality is you’d never even know he plays there, it’s like every other server.
The people that complain 24/7 are the equivalent of anti trump twitter posters that work themselves into a frenzy and post nonsense 15 hours a day.

Hmm stream sniping. Sounds like fun, nothing excites me more than making people I absolutely do not care about hate me. I can easily go on about my day all the while they are still raging. I might have to give this a try.

It affects play by him having such a large following if he quits or goes to a different server, people who chose the server specifically to be with him will also transfer if given the chance. So, the server goes from way too crowded to dead in a quick time frame. The time it spent being overcrowded will be enough to ruin the economy for a very long time. It is NOT about say Asmongold as an individual, it is about his choices influence a LOT of people into doing what he wants and that can only hurt the server.

Why do people buy fashion magazines or watch reality TV shows? Perceived celebrity feels far more attractive than their own boring lives.

Eh the only problem with streamers i see is if they decide to quit the game or server transfer their fanbase goes with them. Which can potentiality cause server imbalances.
Also they have alot more time to play than you because their job and life is…well to play the game. So you will always be behind them gear wise. Rank 14? Not even viable until streamers get them first.
In the old days of classic you only had youtube stars who showed off skills and gear. Now you have people who get paid to play games more than you.
Not really an issue for most of us but forget about being the best on your server with streamers stealing all the glory.
