Today I logged on, I did 3 world activities snd got credit for them towards the vault rewards. I then did a Tier 9 delve complete with lives left. I look at the vault and I now have 2 rewards for next week’s vault rewards lit up as expected. But both say item level 584 and to do a Tier 2 or higher to increase the reward’s item level. But I just did a Tier 9? Please explain how this works?

First slot - 2 activities. Always rewards based on lowest. So if you want 616 you need to do 2 delves at tier8 or higher.
Second slot - 4 activities. Always rewards based on lowest. Need to do 4 delves at tier8 or higher.
Third slot - 8 activities. Always rewards based on lowest. Need to do 8 delves at tier8 or higher.

If it requires 2 delves for a reward the lower of the 2 has to be a 9.
if you hadn’t done any lower content the delve would show as 616 max loot. if you want 3 vaults you need to do eight of 8+ delves this week.
max gear is from doing 8 delves. it doesnt matter if you do anything higher

Which means you need to drum up 8 coffee keys… 
After all that I still wound up taking tokens this week. First time though… The vault has been kind unlike boss drops.
You don’t need to use a coffer key to make it count for vault.

you don’t need coffer keys to earn the 8+ reward… just pick a delve you like and run it 8 times really quick.

I’m sure this has been answered but each slot gives the lowest completion filling that slot.
If you did t1,2, 3, … 8, and since vault slots for delves go 2 / 4 / 8, you would get t1, t4, and t7 choices.
If you want your first vault slot to be t9 reward, you need two t9s. Second slot, 4 t9s.

Nope, you can run 8x tier8 Sinkholes and fill the vault.
Or whatever the quickest one is, I forget. I think Sinkhole is quick.

World stuff counts as a level 1 delve and vault is the highest 8 whatever you do. so if you want a full row of the best stuff you need to do 8+ delves 8 times. I only got 2 616 and a 580ish something because I got lazy last week.

So world activities only count as lowest? And if the first slot is lit up, and tells me I need to do a level 2 or higher to increase the item level of the slot 1 reward, then I do a tier 9 delve, that is higher than level 2, shouldn’t my reward item level for slot 1 go up?
This explanation is 100% correct:
You did 1 activity so that’s not enough to get a reward for that ilvl.
But really I think you’re asking how delves work so let me explain.
- Your vault fills up based on delves you complete regardless of if they’re bountiful or not or if you have lives left or not or if you use a key or not;
- You can do the same delve multiple times per day or week. Each still counts for vault rewards;
- When you complete a bountiful delve in a day (there are 4 available per reset), it ceases to be bountiful. You can still do it again the same day as non-bountiful;
- Only bountiful delves award Brann XP above level 15;
- If you complete a bountiful delve with lives left, you have the OPTION of using a key to get a reward from it based on the tier. Whether or not you choose this bountiful chest does not impact the vault rewards. Regardless of whether you open the bountiful chest or not, that delve is now no longer bountiful until the rotation changes at the next reset.
Finishing with lives left only has 2 impacts:
- It gives you access to the bountiful chest in bountiful delves; and
- It opens up access to the next tier if it’s not already available.

Understand. And that makes sense. But before I did the t9 delve, the first slot was lit up and said to increase the reward item level, I needed to do a t2 or higher. I did a t9, is that not higher than 2? Or do I need to light them all up first, then do 3 more t8 or above to get highest?
Two activities:
- world content, which awards 584
- Tier 9 delve, which awards 616
What’s the lowest of those 2 activities? That’s what goes in the first slot.
The tooltip tells you “2 or higher” because a 2 is higher than what is currently in the slot. Doesn’t mean that the next thing you do is going to determine the reward, because the reward for both of those activities is based on the lowest.
Thank you, yeah, I knew that about the t8 being highest, but wanted a little more difficult to try.
just do 8 lvl 8 delvs ONLY and your vault will have 3 616 peaces every tuesday, as long as you do 8 lvl 8s each week

you are making things unnecessarily complicated.
The formula for best loot from vault is very simple.
Run 2 T8+ delves to get max tier from the first slot.
Run 4 T8+ delves to get max tier from the second slot.
Run 8 T8+ delves to get max tier from the last slot.
This is all you need to know. Do not worry about world activities they give nothing.
