How can a group, not even all 60, meet the DPS checks without gear that is behind a time gate? Without fire-resist gear that is also time gated?
Even with dead solid perfect rotations, it is mathematically impossible to beat a 2004 version of MC in week one gear. You simply will not take down the boss before he enrages. Not even close.
This sounds like it wasn’t tuned and/or tested. I really hope that is the case or classic is going to die quickly.
By patch 1.12 lots of things change. Itemization was better, every class had been overhauled, there were a number of nerfs, just a lot of contributing factors.
Catch up mechanics were in place so people could hurry and get through early raids, in order to cram content before the burning crusade. So MC is very trivial, and much easier than it was in early Vanilla. This is why a LOT of people were against using patch 1.12 data.
I need to know now if classic is gonna be some half-a** effort out of blizzard or if this is going to be the real deal.
I hope this doesn’t become like LOTRO’s “legendary servers” which turned out being a joke. A game version that ends up being like a high school reunion. You get together, have a few beers, chop up some stories for a weekend, then get on a plane and go back to your real life.
Because it’s based on patch 1.12, molten core, onyxia, and black wing lair will all be relatively cake. AQ40 will still pose “some” difficulty, and Naxx will still be semi-hard because it was never actually easy. The years of raiding it on private servers will help some groups build the right raid comps and push the content though.
molten core has been in the game for 14 years if not a bit more… they’ve had alot of time to practice for this. that’s it, let it die. you didnt kill rag after 1 week, they did.
“molten core has been in the game for 14 years if not a bit more… they’ve had alot of time to practice for this. that’s it, let it die. you didnt kill rag after 1 week, they did.”
Can someone explain the underlying math of this game to this kid. My head hurts.
It’s partially because MC got easier by 1.12 and partially because the people who did it have no lives and spent the last couple years perfecting the run solely to get the world first.
-healers are generally just way better at their jobs now. I remember when there weren’t even actual raid frames and guilds would do noob stuff like having a healer assigned to individual groups (or more likely, people without fire resist would just die to healable damage)
-everyone is specced optimally, you don’t see people running trash hybrid specs
-even though most of raid’s gear was bad, it was at least itemized properly for the class, you don’t see warlocks with agility cloth, or rogues wearing strength leather, etc
-even though most bosses only have 1 mechanic, the guilds that did mc actually do that 1 mechanic (ie, good luck on luci with bad dps if no one is decursing)
-more than 8 debuff slots means that classes can actually use their abilities, and you don’t have 3/4 of potential dps specs just being a waste of a debuff slot
-1.12 threat gen is much much much better than early vanilla, warriors can actually do more than auto attack without pulling agro
-few people were taking avoidable damage (just look at some of the other popular streamer’s mc’s that took like 8 hours and had tons of wipes, it makes a huge difference)
Honestly there’s so many factors that go into it, I could probably write a whole essay on the topic, but it’s not just one thing. It’s a combination of several variables.
Also worth noting, some guilds will still have some trouble with mc. It won’t be a cakewalk for everyone like it was for APES, progress, onslaught, grizzly, etc who have entire guilds of people who have been doing this content weekly for the past 5+ years. Also, this content was never meant to be hard or “endgame”, it’s the first raid. Look at it like 40 man karazhan or something. The stuff that made it hard in the past was basically a lack of game knowledge and artificial barriers like debuff slots, threat gen and raid tools
1.12 has many changes that nake players much stronger than earlier patches. Combined with many nerfs to various things in the 1.12 raids, it makes MC pretty easy for people who know it. Not that it was really really hard anyway.
