I am paying the free Shadowlands version of WoW (just thought I’d test it out with my brother and cousin to see if we want to subscribe). We see the option to “party sync” our quests, but when we try to do it - we keep getting the message that one of us in playing a “class trial” - even though, to our knowledge, none of us are. Is there something we are doing wrong? Do we have to play to a certain level before we can sync? Do we have to subscribe to sync? We really want to test it out all questing together. Thanks for any help!
If you started characters in Exile’s Reach, make sure you’ve also completed the BfA intro quests up until you get the achievement “Come Sail Away” for Alliance or “Welcome to Zandalar” for Horde. (You’ll get the achievement about the time you activate the portals back to the main cities.) Until you’ve completed that, characters get locked out of a lot of content which could be causing the error message.
Once you’ve done that once on a character, you’ll get the option to opt out of the BfA intro when you finish Exile’s Reach. (It’s a dialog option to the effect of “I know my way around the city” on the quest NPC when you hit Stormwind/Org.) But, if you don’t take that exit option, the characters need to complete the BfA into to properly unlock stuff, even if you’ve done it before on other characters.
