Can someone explain Fire rotation for me?

New to mage. Feel like I’m wasting procs or casting the wrong spells.

Am I supposed to free pyro after I hard cast fireball? Hard casting flamestrike in aoe?

Feels simple, yet confusing. But fun!

The idea is to crit twice in a row for a instant pyro in short intervals to make your ignite huge, then spread that ignite dot in aoe situations.

Pre pull opener would have you using consumables, then hitting pyro, just before cast finishes use combustion. This causes the first pyro to crit. You may now use fireblast for another crit, which causes the next pyro to be instant. You use the instant pyro, then fireblast and now you have another one. You just keep this chain up and pyro as much as you can during combustion.

After this window is over, you are at the mercy of fishing for crits. When you get one, you use fire blast and pyro.

This changes during execute phase if you have taken the talent to make scorch crit, in which case you just use scorch instead of fireball.

There’s more to it to eek out more damage, but this is the basic principle.

Since it seems your new, i’ll keep the answers simple. Basic firemage rotation is fireball till you proc heating up, fireblast, instant pyro. Repeat.

Really firemage is that simple. The hard part is combustion. Which is where alot of your dps will come from. Again the simple explanation is enter combustion with a heating up proc. fireblast, pyro, pheonix, pyro, repeat. You should get 6-7 pyros out of a combustion rotation easily.

Hard casting flamestrike is viable provided there are enough mobs. That exact number depends on talent choices. (fire patch vs not)
