Can SL add 3-5 talent rows?

There are currently 7; can we have 10 at least? Instead of bringing back glyphs, instead of cool abilities on Azerite gear, instead even of cool abilities on Tier pieces, can we just add more customization and variety accessible to all classes and specs?

One talent tier for each class could be so easy, for example:
Warlocks extra talent tier 1:
Shadow bolt: 1) 30% casting time reduction or 2) 30% increased critical strike chance or 3) 30% increased damage buff. (tweak tuning as needed)
Warlock talent tier 2:
Agony ticks have 15% chance to proc 1) free and instant shadow bolt or 2) doubles the damage of your next SB for 15 secs or 3) increases the effectiveness of your next curse by 30% for 15 secs.

See how easy it is to make things fun and interesting, AND make it available to everyone from the beginning of the epac and forever to keep.
By all means, tweak tweak tweak to balance so all options are compelling. I would think a good beta could get us a long way towards this goal, and we all know perfection is impossible. But, if it is close, it would be a lot of fun.

Imagine if I did two tier examples of other classes or specs. Also, these choices I made are easy to understand. Simming may still be done to calculate the best, but at least we can understand so of the gameplay effects of these talents.

Anyway, anyone agree?
Anyone got another two tier row suggestions for another class or spec?

Doesn’t seem like there’s a point since they are lowering the max level.

Maybe cause I’m kinda new but I think we gots enough talent rows man.

Yes there is a point. The numbers are arbitrary. There could be talent tiers every 5 levels.
And, the point is for more fun.

Well we all know what Blizzard thinks of fun.

Yes, you must be new. Many who played in MoP miss the complexity of many classes and specs. Some tiers have passive options, which is good. That helps keep things simple for gameplay for those that prefer that style.

In regards to that they’ll be unpruning a bit in SL already.

what an interesting and fun talent suggestion.

True. And something is better than nothing. But, to really get people to comeback and give SL a try, it will take more than a 2-3 returned abilities per class. This in addition, could really get people thinking and expecting. The devs would have a lot of space to create fun options and synergies, and the players would really enjoy experimenting.

I mean it would add to more customization. So I’m into it.

What about a talent wheel? Level up and click the wheel, it spins and you get a random talent. RNG talents!!!

Would definitely favor more ways to make a toon fit individual playstyle. It would be fun.

Now balance it for PvE/PvP, give other options just as good (so there is an actual choice), and see how it works combined with other talents. Now balance that with every other class/spec in the game.

Wait… it’s not so easy.

They already announced talent rows, and the level breakdown doesn’t make sense to me:

  1. 15 levels to the first talent row (level 15).
  2. 10-level discrepancy between first two rows (levels 15 & 25), followed by 5-level discrepancy between the remaining (levels 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50).
  3. No max-level talent row. (Max level being 60.)

Why not just make one talent row every ten levels? Why make people wait 15 levels to get the first one, and then make max level feel useless again with no talent row? (Maybe a little hyperbole here, but I don’t have enough info to conclude that this will feel any different from how talent distribution worked in BfA and Legion.)

There’s probably some reason for this that they haven’t announced (and maybe they don’t ever bother announcing it). My guess is more expansion-specific rental abilities in the covenants (which I’m not excited about).

If they can’t get the current amount of talents right, how can they get a system right that introduces 3 more talent rows with 3 choices each?

Was MoP really more complicated? Pretty sure it didn’t have as many talent rows as we have now. It had one less. So um, you want less complicated? What is it you really want?

We just want power gain. Hitting 120 on BFA didnt even feel satisfying because you did not gain anything. Not even a talent.

In Shadowlands as of right now when you will log in and be level 50, you will be at your maximum power. Leveling in shadowlands will not grant you a talent at all, which feels awful.

We need atleast a NEW TALENT ROW AT 60, so we want to move from 7 rows to 8. An extra talent row for max level. so achieving the max level actually get you more powerful for your efforts.

Those 15 levels will go pretty quick I’m betting. As for max level, there’s probably Covenenant-based abilities we’ll have access to at that point

Azerite set pieces, neck essences, corruption. All power progression post 120.

Covenant abilities + whatever new gear system they implement will be progression at max level.
