Blood DK’s have talents called “Blood drinker,” “Consumption,” and “Red Thirst,” and their mechanics actually involve draining the blood and vitality of their enemies to gain power. They’re also undead by nature. Ergo, they have an actual claim to the “vampirism” bunk. Shadow priests do not.
No, just no.
Shadow Priests assault the mind with shadow energy. Priests are about Light and Shadow, not Blood. I never thought I would see an idea that was even worse than “voidform” for Shadow priests and yet here we are. You’re reaching all over the place, saying that because a spell is named Vampiric Touch that means we should use blood magic… lol.
If you want to play a Blood themed spec, Blood DKs are waiting for you. Which isn’t a bad thing, of course. DKs are awesome.
Does it have fundamental problems? Sure. Is it trash? Absolutely not.
Yes I miss the old Shadow lore. Was a lot more mysterious and open-ended.
Calm down dude. Multiple classes can use similar magics. You’re like a paladin saying Light is only for them, or a DH saying warlocks can’t use fel. I don’t really care about your postmodern deconstruction of what Blizzard meant when they created Vampire spells for Shadow Priests. I just wanted to post about a cool idea I thought about for my favorite spec. I didn’t ask you to give me any of your time.
So citing the canonical lore on the magic system in the WC universe is a postmodern deconstruction now. What a world we live in.
all your magic are belong to me, weak little death knight. I am true master of dark magics
He clearly put more thought into the idea than you did.
Blood Magic should be the healing spec for Necromancers, since they probably won’t have a tank spec and none of the new classes have been pure dps
Agreed. Hypothetical Necro should be Heals/rDPS or Heals/rDPS/rDPS.
as unlikely as it is, i really hope they get a tank spec where they have a giant bone/flesh golem that they share health with to mitigate the damage as that would be a super unique mechanic and would fit right in with their theme
That’s a bit out there for me. I’d want Blood as a healer spec, Bone as a direct damage ranged spec, and ‘build your own army’ Minion spec (with enough secondary and tertiary utility difference so be totally seperate from Demo lock).
Sorry but they gave it to Dhs, no mana burn for priest and havoc has almost permanent vampiric embrace.
NO!!! Blood Magic needs to be apart of a new class! Yes I know Blood DK’s use blood magic.
I would pull hard for a necro class. Maybe we can all come together and agree on something we all want. There seems to be a huge demand for a lot of these different dark caster archetypes. To name a few I am think of:
-vampire
-lich
-plaguebringer
-apothecary
-fleshcrafter
-bonemancer
-witch doctor
-shadow hunter
-dark ranger
The ones I am most interested in are the ones that combine nature magic with death magic. Like apothecary, witch doctor, shadow hunter, vampire, blood mage, etc. If they expanded Priest fantasy to fit some of these that’d be cool but what I really want is Blizzard to add some of this to the game even if its just a glyph or cosmetic or whatever.
Also in Shadowlands we will be mastering and collecting tons of Anima so I feel like all the classes could end up with more grasp of different kinds of magic then we’ve previously thought of
Ever heard of a blood MAGE?
that could be cool too. it often took the most powerful wizards to even be able to master the dark arts. the idea of a dark priest ie a dark spiritual leader / cultist is also a valid archetype. i think the game needs both. one achieved their power through their intelligence. the other through communion with evil gods
there’s 3 in an area near the dark portal, provided that they are in caves closest too horde/alliance.
2 blood elves for horde, and 1 gnome for alliance.
the defias also had blood mages as well as the darkfallen and probably the venthyr. obviously cant forget the blood trolls.
so if anything, they are likely too be a mages 4th spec, or a necromancer spec.
