It’s going into Classic, and that’s awesome. I’d love to get something like that in Retail.
I’d enjoy a dungeon experience where dying was final. And people didn’t treat dying as a slap on the wrist.

wouldn’t that be considered Hardcore, not necessarily Ironman
I just want people to care about dying. Call it whatever.
Could this not be organised already as an event, etc?
Or did you mean one that’s systematic?
It’s built in for Classic. I wanted something similar.
So you don’t want raiding or pvp?
It never made sense to me that you can just throw your character against a wall over & over and get loot, progress and nothing actually happens other than a repair bill lol.
If my character dies I delete and start over!
(Except this guy, he’s already dead so?.. )
Go read how it operates in Classic before posting.
People care about dying. It’s just the means of dying are different than in Classic.
Go around Korthia where some of the nasty rares are and you’ll find skeletons. Go fight the Mor’geth and take note how many people die after the zerg of mains do it Tuesday after reset.
Classic is tedious and nothing more. It was never hard to level…just slow and boring.
Wasn’t that a player driven play style? So there would be nothing from stopping you from doing that yourself but I wouldn’t expect Blizzard to make coding changes for it.
The Ironman challenge in retail has been around since at least Wrath. At its peak there used to be a website that would track all of that information and it would track if your character died.
It has always been a self challenge for an individual player. I don’t remember the characters name, but the guy who always won it played a priest. I can no longer find the tracking website, this seems to be all that is left.
That would be cool.
Just the little buff icon that says “I never died yet” like is going into Classic.
I dunno how it would handle Arthas and all that, I guess it would write that off as a death or not, whatever.
So do it? I don’t think anything is stopping you from deleting your character after you die.
Still wouldn’t be in the system though, would it?
But I’m just confused why you need it to be in the system. It’s well within your ability to do what you’re asking for right now in the game.
I can’t help you
Right… so you want the game to force you to restart your character upon death because doing it yourself isn’t good enough?
I’m assuming you can’t explain why you need something like that implemented as a system because there isn’t an actual good reason for it.
In the Classic Version, you get a debuff.
I’ll find a link but I’m on a call for work.
RuneScape added a really cool iron man mode. You choose up to 4 people to play with. You can only group with them and trade with just them. No auction house or anything - just your group vs the game.
Maybe you have a different source of information but I can’t find anything that says that’s being implemented. Just a few data mined spells that possibly hint at them doing something like that.
But having a game mode where you get a debuff of some sort after dying is vastly different from what you said originally
