Never got to test it either, but is it possible to orb run?
I know we have Blessing of Freedom and can spec for 2 charges of Divine Steed.
Probably should ask in the first place whether Blessing of Freedom would allow us to do that in the first place.
I know the area to the goal has a slow and eventual root, but does Freedom work there?
You can't solo it. We can do reasonably well in a two-person team; pop Freedom a second before you catch it and Divine Steed to the end.
Freedom won't protect you from the orb debuff, but it will protect you from the goop slow.
With that said, you really want a partner who can clear a path quickly because we're awful at this. Boomkin or Mage make really good buddies. If you don't have a good partner, you'll need to head up a good 30s early just to get in position.

That's a shame. Would be lovely to be able to do the whole solo run to be a more suitable candidate when joining pug runs.

You can also pop Divine Shield which will get you past the goo but you won't be able to pick up the orb until you click off your shield. Typically what I do is run with that, click it off about half way then pop freedom+steed.
You can get close with a gateway and skystep/light foot potion, but you can't solo it.
I partner with a rogue. I grab first, warlock gate, pony as far as I can. Toss orb to him and freedom him when he catches it. Sprint + shadowstep gets him to the end and we do the whole run in about 12 seconds.

Not sure if pallies will get a boost to mobility with 8.1, but it would be nice to be called upon for what our kit offers.
Seeing as War and DH can already do so much etc. Feels other than ret's ability to single target, we kind of fall short in other categories for raid usefulness.

I bubbled, but was still slowed even in bubble w/o orb? Does bubble not work running though the crap?
yeah easily. of course can't solo, but only few can. also if you have warlocks pretty much any class can run orbs.
if you don't have a gateway, you need to grab it first. let your partner run up and start wacking the poo on the ground, then grab and go up. wastes way too much time for a ret to be the first to do damage to the poo, let someone with range/actual aoe do that before you grab first. i use both divine steeds for when i first grab orb, and save freedom for the 2nd catch before i dunk it. plenty of other ways to do it, depends on who you run with
