I’m a born Australian man, playing on Oceania and I’m really frightened of popular sites like WoWProgress or Warcraft logs If people can still track you after name change because I’m planning on leaving an Australian guild. We raided together and done keys at least once. They heard my voice on Discord. They know my behavior on Discord. I just don’t wanna be in a long dramatic talk with them on Discord. I’m that silent type. I also don’t want my whispers being filled with comments like “I just tracked you mate, you can’t hide under that name change” “Kind of a dick move to leave the guild mate :/” I just want it to be like “It’s whatever, he left the guild, he was a mature raider. I hope he follows his path in what he prefers to do so in the future. Probably bump together and do something fun in the future!” but If I know I don’t name change then It’s a high probability one of them is gonna whisper me and of course they’re gonna remember me. Probably add my name in notepad something like “Exiled guild members” put in my name and exile me from raiding in the future with them.
Most people when I leave guilds think nothing of it. You must have been very special to them for you to worry about all this.
Yes I believe that you can see name changes on WoW progress.
That being said I think you’re overreacting and if you just told them “thanks for having me and good luck” there would be no hard feelings. My guild has had 63 people on our 24 man raid team since the start of Uldir. It happens and guilds know that.
If any have your battletag. Then yes they can track you. Not sure if name changes show up in a friends list. As far as tracking from other sites, no idea
Well in discord, there’s only a few handful of people who speak and It’s easy for the Guild Master to remember who has a mic or hasn’t on Discord. I probably must have been special? Idk, I’m just really a quiet guy. That’s all It is.
Just have a conversation with them about leaving. Communication is important. Thank them for having you, tell them it was great to be there, but that you can’t stay and wish them the best of luck.
Still don’t see what the big deal is. People leave guilds all the time, why do you think there will be a big issue if you do.
Websites like Raider Io, Wowprogess, and Warcraft Logs can track your name faction server changes if you allow them to sync with your bnet account.
That being said, just have an open and transparent discussion with the people in the guild who matter, say you’re leaving and leave. If they want to harass you for leaving, block and move on.
This is really paranoid.
In before Rastlin post.
Start by turning on “display character achievements only” on all your characters, including this alt. Right now, Armory is displaying all your main’s achievements too.
I have to agree. Either they are paranoid or did something that would make their guild react that way. It has been a long time since I heard about guild hoppers, people that raid to get loot then leave for green pastures. This could be a case for that.
I guarantee you, It’s not. I’m that kind of person who thinks other peoples opinions matters to me. It’s hard to like “don’t think what other people say about you then, just ignore and move on” I try my best on doing that but It’s very hard for me because In the end I’m the one who’s a dick If I’m gonna do that to someones guild friend.
As I said, have a conversation with them. It will help.
Just say something like: “hey I like you guys and thanks for having me in the guild but I found another guild that works better with my schedule.” Then add anyone who you might want to play with in the future. Trust me, I still run M+ with people who have left our guild for other guilds. It’s not a big deal.
But I’m that silent type. They know my voice on Discord. Even If I have a conversation with the Guild Master in whispers, he will be like “Yeah, get on discord” then there will be like 5-6 people of them debating with me like all this drama with me leaving the guild.
Just discuss why you are leaving, thank them for their time and exit. There is no reason to hide your leaving, unless you did something shady on your way out.
Ok thank you, I did not know that. I will do that from now on, on all of my characters.
Why would anyone debate with you? It’s a simple whisper to the guild lead. Or an in game mail to him. “Thank you for everything, it’s been a great time, but sadly I need to leave and I wish you all the best.”
Done. Leave. They’re not going to stalk you. No one cares that much. Even I don’t and I’m the type of person that always wants to know why people left so that I can improve my guild and the relationships. But no one is going to stalk you or harass you when you leave. There’s no point.
Yeah I might consider on giving that mail part a shot. It’s a good idea.
