So I’m trying to understand the story and what shadowlands is still…
We traverse there and likely back out with ease. But for us to go there do we need to die? Or are we going there “alive”?
Also if the people that have died that went there like Arthas, can those people return to “life” or non SL death. Or whatever?
Wow just writing this out made me more confused. My mind got effed.
haha he so fail it hahaha hahaha hahaha hahha
We apparently go thru a portal at ice crown. I vaguely recall blizz saying the heart of azeroth had something to do with us being able to travel
But we’re going there alive and that’s actually important to the plot since we manage to escape the maw

We’re going there alive, because the vale was weakened. Only some souls can be reborn and those are ones from Ardenweald, afaik. I don’t think any other covenant has the ability to do that. Sounds to me like Wild God souls are reborn in Ardenweald and move to the Emerald Dream to be ushered back into Azeroth. Or something like that.
But no, I don’t think we can take some random dead guy and yank them back to life of our own volition.

The Kyrians can’t (as far as I can tell) return a soul that’s been judged and delivered to the Shadowlands but they can choose to not take it to the Shadowlands in the first place, giving it the chance at returning (eg. spirit healers).

We’re going in fully alive. Azeroth is doing some form of wizardry that ties us to her so we can go there without having to jump off buildings.
I do it every day, with my rez.

This is a intriguing question fully embedded in mystery ,from my point of view, some how we appear to be not what we seem as though the houses of creation know us and fear us. All throughout the expanse they hinted we had a destiny waiting for us. Have lost a memory through time ? so with that I would say ,yes we can return.
Wild gods reincarnate as long as their wild seeds don’t get culled or eaten by the Drust.
As mentioned our characters are just taking a portal there, still perfectly alive.
Other spirits pretty much can come back. Azeroth is crawling with undead via necromancy. But as they lack bodies they aren’t truly alive in the same sense that we are. So they’d probably be along the lines of ghosts and ethereal creatures, unless bound to a physical form. Like undead.
Just speculation. Since the whole reason they’re in the Shadowlands is they originally died somewhere. The spirit passes on, but the body doesn’t. Before the veil shattered it didn’t look like they could cross over easily on their own. In the Bastion cinematic Devos and Uther couldn’t get back to life, they had to wait for Arthas to die. But with the wall open now it’s hard to say.
Thanks all. Helpful info. Story makes more sense now. I wish blizz would articulate the story better within the game though. Or maybe I just haven’t paid attention as much in bfa storylines.
