I’m trying to get the Black Drake mount, which drops in The Obsidian Sanctum 10 man - but it only lets me join a 25 man, and gives me the mount I already have. Any knowledge/fixes on this?

I tried - right clicked on my portrait, changed to 10 man, and it auto goes to 25 when I enter.
Yea, I think Ulduar does this too and it’s quite annoying 
Some change Blizzard made for Time Walking maybe that prevents it from being set to 10man. I’m not clear on the details, I did a bunch of googling a few years ago.
Supposedly they drop gear for both, but not sure about the mount.
I had a ticket in with blizzard but they suggested I try here since they have a lot of tickets rn, I’ve tried to search/ask around as well. I get being time locked a week, but it’s odd to not get the mounts for both
Sounds like you have already done 25 man this week. So let me just clarify something.
In Cataclysm, blizzard made it that 10 and 25 man modes (including heroic versions) share the same lockout due to 10 and 25 mans rewarding the same gear at the same item level. The lockout also affected wrath raids as well. Meaning that if you did say ICC on 25 man heroic, you cannot do it on 10 man normal for the rest of the week. So this affects ALL raids from Naxx / OS / EoE all the way to and including Throne of Thunder. The only exceptions to this rule are Ulduar and Firelands which are now flexible due to them being timewalking raids along with the LFR difficulty (started with Dragon Soul). You can also do normal and heroic firelands in the same week as well.
The reason why you can’t get both mounts from OS is because 10 man rewards different loot than 25 man. I repeat, Ulduar only got its loot table combined because of it becoming a timewalking raid. All other wrath era raids still have their separate loot tables and due to the lockout changes, you can only do one difficulty mode once per week per character.
I had it set to 10 man first, though and it changed it to 25 man when I entered. I already had the Twilight Drake mount, so I only wanted the 10 man loot drop. I will try again after the reset. As for Ulduar, I am working on an achievement and messed two of those up - are you saying I can re-enter and not be locked to the bosses being dead? Or do I need to enter a special way for “timewalking” so I can change difficulty?
I was also about to try Firelands to get a mount from Ragnaros - can I run that more than once a week?

Also I just ran Firelands normal and heroic, so that was nice being able to do both 
EDIT: The game master who answered my ticket said the same thing - I must not have had it set to 10 man like I thought. doh

If you get a friend with a flesh lockout… yes you can. You just won’t get loot.
Yes, once on normal and once on heroic. You will only get loot from the bosses once though. So having a friend with a fresh lockout won’t get you extra loot.
Black Temple, Ulduar and Firelands work the same way as raids from Siege of Orgrimmar (post WoD-patch) to now work with the normal & heroic lockouts. Where you are locked from looting a boss and not the instance ID. Mythic though uses the old system (ID lockout) which every raid from Molten Core up to and Including Throne of Thunder (excluding LFR difficulty) uses. With the exceptions of Black Temple, Ulduar and Firelands. Note that BT and Ulduar do not have heroic modes

And Ulduar and Firelands combined their 10 man and 25 man loot tables, and can only loot bosses once per week? And, Firelands has normal and heroic, so I can loot bosses once in each difficulty setting?
Yes. Just like every other raid that has a 10 / 25 man modes from Wrath up to and including Throne of Thunder excluding Ulduar and Firelands. This also applies to heroic 10 and 25 man as well.
Yes. Note that for firelands, the 10 man and 25 man loot tables were exactly the same.
