Can not use empower spells on evoker

Fire breath doesn’t work.

Tried using a macro to get around the problem, this only allows Push button, then push again to cast.

Hurry up and turn off protected function for all bar addons NOW.

3 weeks we have put up with not being able to use flyouts like Teleport, Rogue poisons, Call pet, Summon demon, Pet utility.

3 weeks we have put up with not being able to use Push and hold casting.

The addon dev for Bartender clearly has a banner displayed pointing out what the problem is and that it is on your end Blizzard. It’s a 30 second fix - change Protected function from Yes to No so we can use Elvui / Bartender etc.

Your new UI was half baked and doesn’t hold a candle to ElvUI. Stop being spiteful and preventing bar addons from functioning we will never use your UI.

Fix this issue it’s somehow not on your known issues yet this is insane

Hillariously enough, you can make a macro of the spell and it will work as intended (tested on Elvui)

#showtooltip Fire Breath(Red)
/cast Fire Breath(Red)

That’s good to know. I’ll try this when I get home from work later.

Ugh…i tried this (with Elvui on) still doesn’t work. I also can’t hold buttons to repeatedly cast and i’ve tried that with and without addons, still doesn’t work. Even did a repair and it helped nothing.

Have you tried changing it from a hold to cast to a tap? That is the only difference i can think of right now. Press the spell from inside the spellbook to verify that the spell itself is working properly, which is what prompted me to make the macro in the first place.
(Using Elvui 13.02)

I have not tried the press and hold to repeatingly cast spells so i have nothing to add that can help with that.

For ElvUI users, you need to go to Action Bars → General and toggle Key Down option to make these spells work.

Can confirm this works on ElvUI for fire breath without using a macro.

This 100% worked for me. Thanks

youre my new favorite person thank you soo much!

But the problem is it will only assume maximum length of the empowered spell, you wont be able to do a shorter cast?

If you are using any UI addon like Elvui, simply press the spell hotkey, then press it again to end the cast at you’re desired level of empowerment. Just figured that out a minute ago

And you are a true hero sir…Now if I can only remember this for 9 hours.

That assumes you’ve enabled tap and cast in the settings menu

This would only apply if players have selected “Press and Tap” under Options → Gameplay → Combat → Empowered Spell Input

The default of this setting is “Hold and release”

Yeah it works sometimes, then just goes out and stops working. A Reload usually fixes it. But then anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes later it goes out again.

I did this and it only halfway works. It will only let me cast the empowered ability if my mouse is hovering over the icon. (For example, I have Fire Breath bound to 4 on my keyboard and if I press 4, nothing happens, but if my mouse is hovered over the icon and I press 4 then it magically will cast).

Are you running with no addons? Or with? Are they updated to the most recent version?

I say this because initially ElvUI had an issue with it until we found a work around and even then that was an older version of the addon (newest version 13.06 at the time of post) seems to have resolved this issue.

Additionally, it could also be caused by other addons (including other action bar addons) so you would need to test/check and see what’s causing the issue.

It would be completely different if with Zero addons and a cleared WTF folder that you still have the same issues as you describe.

After several updates it is finally working.
