When I try to log into WOTLK A message pops up “an updated version of World of Warcraft is available. Please launch the Battle.net app to download the Update.” Then it changes my login to WOW retail from Wotlk log in. Sent in the issue yesterday.
Im having the same issue. No clue how to login to wrath classic. It takes me to the retain page with the same message.
I’m having the same issue, still working on finding a workaround. I can’t even launch the .exe
Edit: Okay, I went into the Task Manager, went to the details tab, closed out the three(??) instances of WoWClassic.exe that were lingering even when I force killed bnet, and now upon relaunching bnet, Wotlk classic is updating (and loaded after the update).
This is the way to go if you’re handy enough with the Windows Task Manager to recognize rogue instances of WoW or Battle.net processes that are interfering with updates.
The easy mode is to just reboot the computer and start the Battle.net app without allowing any of the games to start.
