You guys are just… the most out of touch developers I have ever seen. You’re so lucky that this is World of Warcraft, a game where people have already invested 2 decades of their life into playing so they won’t just quit. If this was any other game people would have left years ago.
This was never a problem, how is it that this gets “Fixed” before things like falling through the boats in Dawnbreaker, Herbs/Ore nodes showing up, allowing you to gather them, and then saying “Lol nvm you can’t loot that right now idiot”, some items from Season 1 have incorrect text, such as Bottle of Flayedwing Toxin, which shows it has a chance to “Deal 48 damage” instead of the correct number, often times if you take off while dragonriding you just straight up get kicked out of the game, if you bump into a stick while taking off you just DC, and it’s been an issue since DF. Instead of fixing real issues you waste time fixing something that was never a problem in the first place. What’s worse is there’s no actual alternative to the runes. Algari Mana Oil is trash, I don’t want crit. It’s a straight downgrade to Hissing Runes for my spec because it gives crit which I don’t want, and there’s no way to get a Mastery Variant.
Ugh… this team is so draining to deal with…

Guarantee you the crit makes it better than the howling runes, even if only slightly.
Stats are never completely 0 worth. They’re just worse than the others.
That said, yes, stupid change.

They can justify nerfing the old runes if they greatly reduce the materials needed for the new oils. I guess they didn’t even take a second to consider WHY players were using the old ones to begin with.
Trash tier decision to disable them.

I have over 100 of each still and always use them. Instead we have the new Stones that take a Null Stone and only last 1 hour…whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired.
Edit: Sorry 2 hours. No I won’t change my post instead lol

I use the Mastery ones, which for Fury Mastery just gives straight up damage while enraged. So this is actually another nerf for my spec, even if only by ~0.4% damage. Still a nerf from a change literally no one asked for.

1k for 5 oil by the looks of it at least on the AH I’m seeing.
Make a herb/rock alt to handle the leyline residue, and the cost should be significantly less for algari mana oil at least.
Will take effort though.
Edit: That said, if you wanted to make the argument that the algari Mana oil and equivalents could be increased significantly as a bit of compensation, no argument there.

I would use old buzzing runes for questing and ironclaw whetstones for keys. But…“fun detected”. I remember why i quit overwatch…

The thing is they don’t even have a max level listed on them. So this is 100% a shadow nerf.

Mm. Correctly called. Mine aren’t showing a level requirement anymore until I click on them.
Maybe a future client patch covers it… Unfortunate, but yeah, we’ll need to adjust.

Hmm fun detected shadow nerf. My gun rockets still work - for now.

Still not worth a null stone lol.

They are literally fixing the real issues as they pop up, but not all issues can easily be fixed. Finding bugs, locking them down, then fixing them without breaking something else can be a long process.
Also, are you seriously getting upset that you can’t use Dragonflight runes in the current expansion? Really? That’s obviously not intended. You should never be forced to go back to old content and farm profession materials there so you can use items from the old expansion in current content.

I think the bigger issue is that we should feel like we’re graduating from worse gear into better gear. The idea of a new expansion offering higher level gear and better runes should be what gets us wanting to spend more and use the better runes. Instead we were locked out of the gear we previously earned and told, without notice or expectation, that we couldn’t use that stuff anymore. Some of the old runes were flat out better than the new ones and that’s surprising since they increased our secondaries by about 280%. All they had to do was make the new runes that much better. But they didn’t. They just took the old ones that we worked for away from us.
The new runes that I use offer a 0.2%-0.5% increase in my output. The runes aren’t worth spending a fortune on unless you’re pushing Cutting Edge content.

howling, hissing, and buzzing runes are defective and can potentially explode. Try bringing any one of these three on a plane and see where that gets you.

Sir, my character flies on a broom, not Delta.

Well, I suppose you can smuggle them all over then.
Could become lucrative.
What runes now? You put them in the title and then just commenced to berating the devs.
Okay? So make that point instead. Ask Blizzard to add new versions of those runes to the game.
Or maybe look to an alternate source of those buffs that you would have gotten from the rune. Cooking for example. Want a buff to your mastery and haste to replace the Hissing Rune? Chippy Tea will give you that. Hearty Chippy Tea (the best version) increases your mastery and haste by 329 for 1 hour and the buff persists through death (normal food buffs do not).
Aren’t the oils the new version that are already in the game? I don’t really care, I have lightsmith.
