I could mine while mounted yesterday but not since the patch.

Confirmed. None of my characters which had the ability to mine/herb gather while on a flying mount up until today’s patch can do so any longer.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is a bug but rather a fix of an old bug. Unless you have the profession talent for mining/herbing while mounted you can no longer do so. Also you must be on the ground and can no longer mine/herb while hovering even with the talent.
. . . of all the bugs that could be fixed lol . . .

In the process of fixing the mine while flying bug, with old flying, they added a new bug. Now if you try to mine a node underwater it generates an error message about not being able to do that while flying. Yes, I do have the knowledge point node that lets me mine while mounted. Yes, this is with dynamic flight selected.
The short term fix is you have to dismount before mining underwater. Then you get to resummon your mount.
So many bugs.

That they chose to “fix” this benign mining/herbing bug rather than the myriad other bugs like: mobs constantly resetting during combat, path not found errors because you are standing in ankle-deep water, or reputations being repeatedly reset to neutral, simply beggars belief.

I’ve complained a lot about the number of bugs in this expansion, but I think the reason they fixed the mining while flying bug might pertain to something else.
It has been possible to interact with some quest items, while flying, since at least Zereth Mortis. Remember the WQ in that zone where you could help the little hiding friendly mobs near the center of the zone? You could do that without ever dismounting. I’ve seen some other WQs that could similarly be sped up by this method.
It has been in the game long enough that I thought it was a quietly added feature to try and add parity with druid flight. It was rather well known based on how frequently I saw people mentioning it in chat as a suggestion back in late Shadowlands.

Yeaaaah, that one was super useful, too. So long, EZ mine nodes.
Couldn’t restore our banks but still managed to “fix” something that didn’t need to be fixed.

I’m on a lower level miner, and it just occurred to me that I completely ignored the Mining fundamentals tree on pretty much all of my miners hahaha fml
This not being able to hover over mining nodes and mine them is VERY Irritating. E-Z mine loads are now SUPER HARD.
Why doesn’t the people who make these updates test them out first?? so many bugs makes it look over, and over, and over again YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU ARE DOING BLIZZARD!

Just discovered this myself and I am not pleased. Of all the things that they could have “fixed”, why this one? If we’ve earned the talent to be able to interact with gathering nodes while mounted, then we should be able to do it. This is honestly quite stupid. Why did we even bother working for the ability in DF if it’s just going to get nuked?

I thought they would have fixed this by now. Really doesn’t feel very good when it took me so long to get to be able to fly while mounted.
