Can Main Gauche be less crap?

Far be it from me to point out the Outlaw is a wonky spec, but what is the deal with Main Gauche? Why is it so unbelievably terrible?

I know, I know, looking in a gift horse’s mouth and all, yet watching Main Gauche tickle is a bit depressing, especially when your attack speed goes through the roof.

Can this get any sort of love while you’re thinkering there? Maybe a parrying flourish that ignores armor?

I absolutely love the new incarnation of Outlaw rogue in Shadowlands, i’ve never been more excited to play my rogue Alt.

but I agree that Main Gauche is a little… drab. I believe it exists to help fulfill the fantasy of being the hyper-agile, lightning fast rogue, who can hit their opponent 100’s of times per second.

I’m also fairly certain that the extra attacks with your off hand have a chance to regenerate a little energy. So your mastery is functionally a chance, on top of a chance.

If the Spec. Formerly Known as Combat needs anything, it’s to have Roll the Bones ground into a fine powder, soaked in kerosene, and set ablaze.

“Hey guys, we’re going to put an RNG gate on your whole rotation! Isn’t that great!?”

Who ever came up with this idea should be banned from all forms of creative thought.

Worst mastery in the game. It really sucks to get an ilvl upgrade only to find the piece has mastery on it and it’s just vendor trash.

It’s definitely a relic of combat spec. It should have been updated to fit the new theme better or at least have a better indicator of when it actually happens.

I think SV hunter has it worse.

MG gives energy which helps fuel the rotation. SV gets damage boost on RS and SS.

Main Gauche is kind of boring, but on my Outlaw Rogue the thing I want fixed the most is Roll the Bones.

The change they’ve got for it in Shadowlands isn’t going to address how annoying it is to get the worst proc several times back to back and losing a bunch of DPS because of it.

It has a 75% chance. On a 30% chance swing.

Except Outlaw’s mastery (the stat) only increases the amount of damage Main Gauche does. thats it. no extra procs, no increased energy.

That is why I no longer main a rogue.

I actually like the concept behind it. I mean when I think of a rogue, I think of all or nothing. They are willing to go for the jugular. He’s putting all his cards on the table. If it lands, it’s lights out. But if it misses, he could pay with his life. That’s kind of how I see Roll the Bones from an RP standpoint.

But then you realize Pirates cheat at dice…

I agree. Buff Main Gauche.

While I can see your line of thought, this doesn’t come close to justifying mechanics this bad. That might be fine as a finisher, but as a startup mechanism, it basically stalls you out at the start of combat. For shorter bursts of combat, this may mean you never actually get to do anything other than reroll dice. It’s garbage.

Besides, even if you buy into the role arguments, what it does to the actual gameplay is inexcusable. Story and gameplay need to work in harmony, and sacrificing one for the other is bad design however you cut it.

Watching infexious and outlaw is definitely looking like the worst of three.

BF was one of their boons and its getting nerfed to oblivion

We can all agree that left-handed people are weird, but “crap” seems a little harsh.

As a left handed person. I agree. Buff Main Gauche.
