Reposting this here because the “new player help and guides” thread is slow.
I’m trying to get the Welded Hardskin Helmet for my mog but this toon is too low to farm elites in the eye of azshara. If I farmed the helm on my hunter could they trade the item to this toon?
If not is there a way to make an item not soulbound? I do see the item on the auction house so there must be a way to make it not soulbound. I’d buy it but I need to build up 33k gold.
No, you can not trade/mail a soulbound item to your alt.
no you cant trade it, but if you farmed it on another plate class it would be saved to your appearance collection, and then you could use it on any character that wears the same armor type (only the appearance tho not the stats, you just “Transmog” it to the appearance you want)
if you need help understanding the transmog system more just let us know, I and many others would be glad to walk you threw it

No.
You can only trade an item that says “Bind On Equip” or “Bind On Account”.
The minute it says “Soulbound” it’s stuck on that character.
This also would not work, because a hunter cannot equip this since it is a Plate item. You would need a higher level Plate character (Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight) to farm it.
Once you’ve collected it ONCE, you can wear it on ANY character that can wear Plate by using the Transmog system.
If you don’t know the answer that’s ok but then how is the item able to be sold in the auction house? Wouldn’t it be soulbound to anyone who picked up the item?
soulbound items cant be sold on the auction house, the only way you can trade a “soulbound” item is to give it to someone that was there when you got the kill (and only have that chance for up to 1 hr after you receive the loot)
If something is sold on the Auction House, it hasn’t been equipped, it would be “Bind On Equipped” instead.
Once YOU equip it, it will be stuck on your character.
Soulbound items cannot be transferred in the AH or even traded to a friend.
Well, there’s that way, but that’s only during dungeon runs and only if you already have something higher ilvl equipped. If it’s higher than what you have already, you still cannot trade it.
Ignore this, misread your post

your best bet if you don’t have any stronger characters that wear plate armor, get a strong friend to run it with you so they can trade it to you, but if you grind a bit your level and gear will be high enough for you to run it as much as you like <3

Lol the item is “bind when equipped”, I only assumed it would bind while being picked up because that’s what I’ve experienced in dungeons. Problem solved ¯_(ツ)_/¯
