You know most melee can tank right? Warriors use sword and shield. Lots of classes can RP with a 2hander. And some melee specs can heal in bgs. If you are going to complain about paladins you must complain about alot of other classes. No tank should be allowed in arenas. People play paladin because its fun.
This is the first toon I ever made back in TBC. I have never felt like a sellout and never will. Because I main a different class or 2 every expansion.
I get what you’re saying here, but WoG absolutely is still a problem. I dunno how they fix it without absolutely demolish it, but even post nerf its still crazy strong.
Easy, you also play Frost Mage, Havoc DH, and Assassination Rogue because you choose your class and spec entirely by theme instead of stats.
FOTM happens all the time, even more so when there is a perception that classes are unbalanced.
This is so stupid stop with the human male paladin stuff. Theres nothing wrong with being a human male, or a human male paladin. Paladin is a great class. And humans are a great race for paladin.
But Monk doesn’t fit two of your original conditions. I guess those conditions don’t matter anymore?
If you want to roll a paladin go tauren. We are awesome.
Cool. I didn’t know I was special. Been playing my Paladin now for about 4 years. He’s just a darn good all around Toon.
I’ve had this pally as my main since horde could get pallies in TBC. So whatever
I’ve played this paladin since 2005 (human then) and my dwarf shaman since 2007 (orc then). Those are my two and I will never change that. Just play what you enjoy.
Paladins are evil
They love hugs
Say no to Paladins and hugs!
But Monk doesn’t fit two of your original conditions. I guess those conditions don’t matter anymore?
I said that to be funny. No they matter, but the overarching desire is this scenario:
“This is a tough dungeon, I don’t know if we can pull it off. We need like a…monk tank or DH”
“Dont worry guys, I have an alt!”
I want to be clear that I know that both “this scenario is very unlikely” and also that it’s “corny as hell” and I hope by saying it publically I’m shamed into wanting it less, but nevertheless it’s the truth.
How can someone play this class without feeling like a total sellout (if they start one today?)
You seem to have a chip on your shoulder about a well performing class. When you stop being irritated at the class and play it because it’s fun to you, then you stop caring about something as silly as “feeling like a sellout”.

It’s easy to say things. It’s harder to do them, especially when it’s part of your fundamental make-up as a person.
The problem isn’t that Paladins are doing well. Lots of classes are doing well. The issue is they’re ubiquitous. And I’ve never understood the impulse to have “more of the same.” If I join a group and there’s another Shaman I’m bummed.
I honestly don’t know what to tell you. Hundreds of thousands of people play this game. If you’re looking to be unique…well sorry, wow classes and groups don’t work like that.
Be honest with me. Did you come in here to make a Stern Father dunk?
I just can’t wrap my head around why it bothers you so much to play a paladin or when there’s another shaman in your groups. I just don’t understand it.
Well, there are lots of things I don’t understand, and at some point you need to accept people are different.
- Living in the country - why would you do that to yourself?
- People who actively seek Sales jobs - why?
- You order tomato soup…for what reason!?
- DPS that never use their interrupt - What are you doing over there?
It’s the way it is. The wanting to be the clutch position is who I am. And I used to be able to achieve it back in BC when Warlocks could debuff the boss damage by 20%, but no one wanted to take that talent even though it would help immensely. But I did. And I loved it.
I want that back.
my wifes priest is married to my warlock, so i get you. XD
