Can I talk about Paladins for a second?

I should probably play a Paladin but I won’t let myself. They’re omnipresent, they’re white-knighty, and they’re 33% of the HMP problem that we have. And yet…

  • I want a class where I can tank if needs be.
  • I want something that can go in with a sword and shield like a real RPG of yesteryear toon
  • I want something that can use a Giant 2 hander for the RP while I’m bored
  • and I love healing to level in BGs

Only one class allows for all of this. And yet I can’t do it. They’re amazing in all specs, they got nerfed and it did nothing, their PROT SPEC made healing tier lists after the Tournament. How can someone play this class without feeling like a total sellout (if they start one today?)

I really hope the next class they release is a Spellbreaker that can be the Arcane version of a Paladin because I’m never going to get a Nature Paladin, and I can’t bring myself to play a Pinkboi.

Am I the only one?

I’m still leveling this one, and I can confirm that I do feel like a sellout.

However, the fact that this character’s transmog is the favorite out of all of my characters is just proof that it feels so good to play a Paladin. It’s like the junk food class. People will call you out on it. You might feel terrible about it. But in the act, it’s sublime.

I’ll go back to Shaman when they add that coveted earth-based Tank spec.

This is also a possibility I hadn’t considered.

Just roll a Paladin. They’re tons of fun. Plus, everyone is mad at Boomies and Marksmen in BG’s so you fly right under the radar. Also, how can you pass up on the sweet sweet plate set this tier? Anyone that calls you out is just a try hard who has a paladin of their own, they’re not fooling anyone.

They aren’t white-knighty if you aren’t. At least one oder in lore is founded on vengeance and retribution.

Sort out your projections regarding the class and its players, and don’t be afraid to RP outside preconceptions.

If I can play my paladin as a truant noble sentenced to the Blood Knights as a sort of reform school, you can play however you like.

Because I would rather play this game to have fun and immerse myself in a class whose theme I really enjoy, than worrying about ‘selling out’.

What does selling out even mean when it comes to playing games?

I’ve played this Paladin since I was basically just a Cleric with delusions of being able to melee things, so I never feel like a sellout.

but I would enjoy a mage knight type character if they ever made one.

me and alot of other girls i know love playing these pinkboi’s.

Playing the class that everyone wants to be. It’s like when Sonic & Knuckles came out, and after years of waiting we could all finally play Knuckles. Only the people succumbing to their base instincts chose Knuckles.

My man, just roll one. You’re worried about being seen as a sell out but you’re playing a resto shaman, THE “sellout” healer right now.

I get it, mail isn’t enough for you. You want to be cool in that heavy PLATE swinging a sword and shield or a big fn 2 hander crashing down on your opponents head. Roll a Paladin.

At least I have played a shaman since before they were FOTM.

Can’t see your problem, myself. Has there ever been an expansion where some class or other wasn’t railled at for being OP and the FotM and so on? I made my gorgeous Dwarf pally a couple of expansions ago and it didn’t get much love from me for a while. I started to level it in Legion to get the Class hall mounts and was a total noob with how to play it. Then I really started to enjoy it in BfA and now I love him to bits.

I’m not into the play areas where Pallies shine so very brightly, I just love going Prot in rough situations like the Maw and Torghast and nasty world boss fights because he is so damned hardy. If people enjoy a class, there is zero wrong with playing it for that enjoyment.

I think you’re overthinking a video game, and you should try to have fun instead of worrying about what everyone thinks of you.

What? lol, paladins absolutely do not fly under the radar…they’re one of the most complained about classes since launch of SL.

What does that have to do with playing a pally?

This is my life, and it’s miserable.

In the OP I specifically said “if I roll one now.” I’m not condemning all Paladins.
