Am I risking being banned if I play WoW in multiple windows with characters on follow but I still need to alt tab and press a button on each window to do actions?
I’ve heard people saying that there’s an auto-report ban in place. I’m afraid of people thinking I’m muitiboxing when I’m not and be banned because of it.
This isn’t a violation of the ToS since you aren’t using 3rd party software to automate. 
So yes you can alt tab and follow and not get banned.
As long as you do not use input brodcasting software you can follow all day as much as you want. Every character has to have seperate key presses. It’s very easy to tell when someone is using it. All characters move/attack/gather at precisely the same time.
How about the autoreport ban? Does that exist? When people see multiple characters following one (not doing any other actions) they may still think I am multiboxing and report.
It’s not worth it. I was doing it for role playing, and the vitriol I was constantly getting was insane. After a few people told me they were going to report me, I just gave up. People are beyond nuts about multi-boxes - like totally crazy. I’d wait for a while if I were you.
Contrary to what others say, there is no “Autoreport Ban” when you are reported by Right Clicking on your portrait, Blizzard devs still research before banning.
They wont ever ban boxing itself…theres no reason to whatsoever.
But the software is another thing.
I never really did like the idea of pushing one button to fire off 8 accounts. But if it was allowed…
Now it isnt. So we have to obey the new rules.
Just do it within the game and you’ll be fine.
a /follow macro does really well for dual boxing if thats all youre doing.
youre going to get some disgruntled sorts reporting, but I believe THEY can be actioned if theyre abusing the report feature, so let them do it, lol.
others are geniunely concerned and may report just in case…
either way, ignore them. Just play within the rules and you’ll be fine.
How do you know that? I’ve heard multiple reports of people saying they never did anything wrong and got banned because people reported them for things they did not do.
Blizzard have said so themselves that they do not automate bans. Whether or not you take their word over the words of strangers, is up to you.
Ok, I’ve played with 2 characters on follow and alt tabbing. Got people along the way reporting me and whispering me “Reported you piece of sh**”. What a great community. I sure hope Blizzard is fair with this.
I hope you reported him back. What a moron. I have never had someone complain about duel boxing.
