I just started about a week and a half ago so I’m needing a little help. With the new pre-patch of Shadowlands, I would like to still play through the main quests inBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, etc. in order. Is this possible or do I have to pick on expansion and play through that until lvl 50.
Thanks for the help.
You can play through any expansion at any time by changing which one you are in with Chromie. But you need a lvl 50 and have done enough of bfa on a character to unlock it. You can add me Motives#11611 for more help if you want.
I recommend leveling a new character through each expansion. Almost everyone has multiple max characters.
You can still level through stuff normally like you could before pre-patch. Chromie time is not required to do the old stuff. All Chromie time does is allow the old content to scale all the way to 50. I’m not sure how it works for characters that haven’t unlocked Chromie Time. There’s no way for me to test if a new account can access the old content even without Chromie time. You’ll probably at least have to complete the BfA intro after doing Exile’s reach to access content outside of BfA if it is accessible.

Any character level 10 or higher can talk to chromie and pick an expansion to level in. The requirement for a level 50 on the account was dropped.
Oh? No kidding, I wonder if thats a good idea. Thanks for the info.
There’s still some hokey things going on. e.g. if you pick legion, cooking produces food with scaling stats but you can’t create the food at all until level 45.
Going to take a while for fixes for some issues to be implemented. Meanwhile, having your hearth set to your home City is probably a good idea.
For BfA, once you are shown the portal rooms in the starting cities, they become active for you. I don’t know if all the other expansions have a similar mechanic.
Thanks for the help everyone. I recently started The Burning Crusade through Chromie.
