I haven’t even bothered to make a Legendary item in Shadowlands. I have some soul ash and cinders to make one if I wanted to, but the prices of the on par item level legendary catalysts on the AH on my realm are up tp 50,000 each. I do not have that kind of gold, and I am not wealthy enough to purchase a WoW Token. I would really just like to raid the Normal content. I do not care for Heroic or Mythic. I would play LFR; however, the LFR for 9.2 won’t be released till a month and a half after the patch launches on the 22nd. I would like to play the raid sooner than that. Without a legendary item, or any good legendary abilities, can I even do moderately well to participate in any Normal 9.2 raid run? Would anyone pick me? Would I be able to deal somewhat decent damage?
Depending on what class you’re playing. But honestly i know what you mean by the cost for the legendary. You can do it for sure but some legendarys will increase your dmg for a X amount. So yes you need em.
when the raid leader sees you without a legendary you’ll be the first one to get kicked
I am kinda bummed out that the main mechanical focus for this expansion is locked behind your server’s economy. I don’t know if they are any more or less expensive in other realms, but in mine, I just don’t have the money for it. I also wouldn’t need to worry about it if it weren’t a major mechanic anyways. Seriously, this whole expansion just felt like a time to level alts. That’s all I have been doing.
Yes - for Normal you’ll be fine. You’ll do more damage than the guys that died halfway through the pull.
If you want to make gold with minimal participation in the economy, you can pick up herbalism and mining (or skinning).
You don’t have to bother farming. You just pick up stuff along the way from point A to point B, then sell it all in the AH. That’s what I did in BfA because professions and gold making are boring imo.
Wait is that the price of a 190 legendary?
Nah save your money, not worth it this late into the expansion.
This depends on your guild/raid leader.
My guild isn’t going to demand people upgrade their items right away. We also craft the pieces for people when we can if they don’t have one.
You could… you know… make it yourself?
As someone who leveled up all the leather/mail leggo patterns, that is really silly advice. It is a heck of a skinning (or mining or whatever you call farming cloth) grind.
Better advice is to just use a 190 piece. Those are super cheap and he’d only be missing out on a few stats. Fair trade off imo.
How? You get tons of mats skinning just one mob, lol.
So you have options…
You can actually just level crafting and make it yourself…
Alternatively, there are guilds that just have the base items stockpiled in their guild’s vault for guildies.
In fact - I bet if you asked in your guild chat, someone would hook you up with one, regardless of a stockpile.
I don’t know the truth of this, but I’ve read multiple times that it’s the legendary and it’s effects and not necessarily the level of said legendary that is important. If you have a lower level one that you can afford to get the effect, I think that is supposed to be better than no legendary and a normal item in that slot.
Have you not crafted up to rank 4? It is a tremendous amount of mats required. And if he was dead set on a rank 6, he’d be better off skinning and selling the mats cause to craft just 1 rank 6 puts you at a huge deficit. It’s only worth leveling if you’re going to be selling max rank on AH to recoup yours costs/effort.
You’ve had how many months? Even skinning on occasion I’ve had stacks and stacks of leather, bones, and heavy calloused leather over the course of three weeks…
I understand what you think is a lot of mats… and I’m not trying to be mean, but I am getting the impression you are unaware of what leveling these entails.
Soul Ash, Cinders, and the Korthia Gems are maybe the bigger gateway? But friggin’ regular mats?
100% yes

There’s no way. One, you never actually farmed. Two, you’re just lazy.
