Can i play all specs as monk using same gear

Ok so i only played mage since Cataclysm and honestly i am so bored of it and want to play monk but at the same time i want to play tank role and healer plus dps.

Can i switch in between them or i have to get items for each spec?

I know this sounds like a dumb question but i noticed that agility is grayed out when i play healer spec and when i switch to dps spec intellect is grayed out so it looks like the items adapt to which spec i am playing.

It’s not a dumb question, the game is confusing about this. For most slots, yes. Your gear actually has intellect AND agility on it, but one is greyed out to tell you that your spec doesn’t use that one. For example, when you play mistweaver, you will benefit from intellect and have no benefit from agility whatsoever so agility will be greyed out. When you play windwalker, the opposite will be true so intellect will be greyed out.

I would recommend an intellect staff for mistweaver though. Usually the weapons (and probably the trinkets - unless you want healing trinkets as dps for example) should change, but everything else will be viable for all specs.

If you are planning on playing all 3 specs in end content like M+ and raids though, be sure to check the stat priorities for different specs because they may differ.
